“Nope, nothing,” she says, her words clipped. “Did you enjoy the conference with Mr. Morrison?” she adds, and there it is. A jab about the Seattle conference with Ethan.

“I didn’t go to the conference with Ethan. I attended the conference alone. He was the keynote speaker,” I clarify, but not sure why. I don’t owe her an explanation. “I think it would be good for a few of you to attend next year. They had a great session on professionalism and customer care. Seattle is a lovely place to visit.”

Casey lets out a low gasp, but I don’t miss it. Smiling, I call over my shoulder as I walk away. “Maybe you could even go with Mr. Morrison.”

I shouldn’t be this way, but I am her boss and she’s been nothing but a pain in the ass since the gossiping and then when she wanted me to put in a good word for her. She’s always been a great employee, but this jealousy or whatever it is, is getting old.

I head back to my office, but before I reach my door, I decide to walk right past and up the stairs that lead to Ethan’s office.

He’s separate from the rest of the offices. It’s Elissa, the head of maintenance, the restaurant management and a few others that are on the main floor with me. The privacy of Ethan’s office definitely holds some appeal.

I look behind me as I reach the last step, his door is closed and I can see the light beaming out from under the door. Hopefully he’s in there alone because I’m not coming up here to talk work.

I listen for a few seconds, checking to make sure he isn’t on a call or that he isn’t with someone. I look over and see the small office near Ethan’s is empty. That’s Cameron’s office. It’s the only other office on this floor, but there are some storage areas and empty spaces that I’m sure Ethan has plans for one day.

I don’t bother knocking, opening the door, I find Ethan behind his desk, his face focused on the screen in front of him.

“Zoey,” he says, the look of surprise painted on his face. “I didn’t think you’d be in this early.”

“I had a reason to wake up early,” I say, walking over to where he’s sitting. “You busy?”

He stands, meeting me in the middle of his office, my heart kicking out a fast rhythm in my chest at the closeness. I can smell him, a smell I grew used to when we were together this weekend. I loved falling asleep to it and waking up to it. I already miss touching him and my hands reach out as soon as he’s close enough.

“I missed you,” I whisper against his lips, his hands clutching my hips, his fingers pushing up my sweater, exposing my skin.

“You have no fucking idea,” Ethan hisses back, pulling me against him, our mouths collide in a desperate and needy kiss. “I slept like shit last night.”

He walks us toward the windows that overlook the mountains, high above the slopes below, backing me up against them.

“You must have a thing with windows,” I tease, nipping at his bottom lip as his hips push into mine.

“Why’s that?” he growls, his fingers under my sweater, sliding up my ribs till he reaches my breast, teasing me.

“You did this same thing in your condo in Seattle. I thought you were going to fuck me up against the window.”

“Don’t give me any ideas, Zoey,” he says, a wolfish grin on his face.

God, he drives me wild. The way he looks at me with his dark eyes, possessive and wanting. Being here with him feels like a mistake because I’m not sure I’m going to be able to stop.

“Come over tonight after work,” he says, but his words sound more like a command than a question and there’s not a chance I will turn him down.

“Yes,” I whisper out, breathlessly as he pins my arms above my head, sucking hard at my neck, making me grind against him. “Ethan, we should stop.”

“You’re such a tease, Zoey,” he says, a smile tugging at his lips as he kisses me. “You come in here expecting me not to be all over you.”

“Oh, that’s far from the truth. I hoped you’d be all over me. You have me a fucking mess and I really wanted to sneak over to your place this morning for a quickie.”

He takes his hands from my wrists, looking at his watch, he replies with, “I have a meeting in an hour, does that give us enough time?”

Just as I’m contemplating his offer, my watch vibrates letting me know that Elissa has added a meeting to my calendar in fifteen minutes.

“It looks like one of your employees needs to meet with me, Mr. Morrison,” I tease, swatting him on the ass.

“Tell her you can’t make it. Tell her your boss has a hard-on that you need to take care of.” We both burst out laughing the second the words leave his mouth.

“I’m not sure that’s appropriate,” I shame him, still laughing. “I’ll see you tonight,” I add, letting my hand run over the bulge in the front of his pants. “I’ll take care of that tonight, too.”

I give him a quick kiss before leaving his office, red-cheeked and breathless.
