“I will,” I say, shifting so I’m now straddling his hips.

“Whoa, that was way easier than I expected it to be,” Ethan jokes, and I shift a little, grinding against him.

Nipping at his bottom lip, I reply with, “That’s because you asked me. If it was anyone else, I would have said no in a heartbeat.”

“What makes me different?” he asks, and there’s something that is so endearing about his comment. Ethan Morrison isn’t one to seek out compliments or wait for someone to dote on him. He’s humble and independent and has learned to live with his own approval over anyone else’s. It’s one of the things that drew me to him.

“Baby,” I croon, moving so he’s now inside me, “I love you, and the idea of you worrying about me has me changing the way I look at things. I never want you to wonder if I’m okay. We’ve been there and it was fucking hell.”

I begin to move slowly, Ethan’s head falling back, a low groan slipping from his lips. My hands begin to move all over him, his neck, his shoulders, his back, my fingers exploring every inch of him. Slipping my hand down his stomach and between us, I begin to touch myself as I move.

“Zoey, you are the best distraction,” Ethan moans, his eyes focused on my hand below the water.

“Thank you,” I murmur, my mouth next to his ear, my tongue slipping out to trace a path down his neck, tasting his skin.

His hands grip my hips, urging me to move faster, lifting me up and pulling me back down with an intensity that has me wanting more. Urging him closer, harder, faster, my body moves in time with his, both of us calling out into the darkness of the night.

Ethan pulls from my memory every moment we’ve been together and there isn’t even a whisper of an idea that there will be anyone but him. I want this with him forever.

My thighs begin to tighten around him, begging for more, begging to let me come, but I need to know he’s close too.

“Tell me, Ethan,” I moan, dragging my nails down his chest, urging him to tell me what he needs.

“Harder, Zoey,” he begs, thrusting into me, and when his hand grips my ass, his fingers digging in, I know he’s there.

We come undone together, the sky black and dotted with stars, and it’s just us.

“That was the best way to end the evening, and another nice distraction,” Ethan says, out of breath, his nose nuzzling my neck.

It may have been a great way to end our night, and it also feels like a nice distraction from our reality. We know we don’t have a lot of moments where my abduction or the search for the guy aren’t consuming our thoughts. It’s always there in the back of our minds, and there is always the possibility that something more could happen.

I don’t want to think about it now. I want to bask in our private bliss for a little longer.

“And maybe we’ll start our morning the same way.”

CHAPTER19

ETHAN

We do start our morning the same way, both of us waking late after spending more of last night distracting ourselves in the same way too, unable to get enough of each other.

“What time are you meeting Brandon?” Zoey asks, her head on my shoulder, her arm draped across my stomach.

I slowly drag my fingers up her spine, my eyes closed as I lie here, enjoying this moment with her. “Eleven,” I murmur.

Zoey’s fingers move against my skin, tracing the ridges of my stomach muscles. “I’ll have to get a new dress for the wedding,” she says. “It’s formal, right?”

“Uh huh,” I respond, loving the feel of her touch, of just having her here in my bed every single day now. I never thought I’d find this with anyone, never thought I even wanted it. But with Zoey I do, because with her, everything is just so fucking perfect.

“Is Simon coming to the wedding?” she now asks. Zoey and my brother haven’t ever met in person, but they have spoken on the phone when he and I have talked.

“Yes,” I reply, turning to kiss her forehead. “And he’s very excited to meet you.”

She lifts her head from my shoulder, smiling. “Me too. He’s staying for a bit, right?”

I brush the hair back from her face, tucking the loose strands behind her ear. “Yeah, he’ll stay for a week or so.”

“We should have everyone over for dinner, so our families can all officially meet.”
