“Um, I think…I think he went toward the bathrooms,” he says, waving vaguely.

I turn and storm out of the kitchen, Simon and Brandon close behind me as we walk past the bar and toward the doors that lead out to the bathrooms. My heart is pounding in my chest now as every single worst-case scenario runs through my head. I don’t want to believe this is happening here of all places, but why else would Zoey be missing and Eric rushing out of here.

Whoever is doing this to her has obviously found out that she is here without me and has taken advantage of the fact that there are nearly one hundred people here to distract and hide whatever it is he plans to do.

“Ethan,” my brother says behind me, but I don’t stop as I make my way over to the corridor that leads to the bathrooms. “Ethan, wait,” he says again.

“What?” I snap, turning to him.

Simon exhales, glancing once at Brandon before turning back to me. “What are you planning on doing?” he asks.

“Fuck, seriously?” I ask, throwing my hands up. “I’m going to find my girlfriend, what the hell do you think I’m doing?”

“I know, I know,” he says, holding a hand up. “But this guy could be dangerous, fuck, heisdangerous, and you can’t just go storming in there or whatever,” he adds, waving his hand in the direction of the bathrooms.

“I don’t give a fuck,” I reply, turning and making my way down to the ladies. “He has her and I’m not gonna just wait around to see what happens.”

“Shit,” Simon and Brandon both say, following after me as I push open the door and walk in.

The scene that greets me in the dressing room almost makes me want to puke. Zoey is sitting on one of the small loveseats, her cheeks wet, her face pale and her hands shaking in her lap. I rush over to her, pulling her into my arms.

“Baby, are you okay?” I whisper, kissing her cheeks as I wrap myself around her.

She nods and I lift a hand to brush away her tears as she points to the door leading into the toilets.

“There’s someone in there?” I ask, tucking some loose strands of hair behind her ear as she nods, before cradling her jaw. “Is it him?” I ask.

“Ye-yes,” she stammers, the word a whisper as she looks up at me, her eyes wide and filled with fear.

My jaw clenches as my arm tightens around her, hating that she was alone for this. Alone and petrified. “Did he hurt you?” I ask.

“No,” she says, shaking her head. “Eric…Eric found me.”

I exhale, pulling her into me again. “Is Eric in there with him?”

“Yes,” she says. “Yeah, it’s—”

The rest of what she’s about to say is cut off by the door flying open and Eric walking out, holding whoever is doing this to us in a headlock. Whoever he is, he’s dressed in a suit, clearly done to blend in with the rest of the guests here at the wedding.

Eric’s eyes widen when he sees the three of us and he immediately stops. “Mr. Morrison, I’m sorry, he, um—”

“It’s fine,” I say, not caring about anything but the fact that Zoey is safe. “You got him?”

Eric nods, letting go of his hold on this guy only to grab the back of his head and yank it up so we can see who it is.

“Holy fuck,” Brandon breathes out, my brother also letting out a curse as all the blood in my veins turns to ice.

Letting out a breath, I squeeze Zoey once before gently easing her back into the love seat. Then I storm over, my fist clenched at my side before I lift it and slam it into Declan’s jaw. “You fucking asshole.”

CHAPTER28

ZOEY

Idon’t try to stop Ethan. I don’t even utter a word as I watch his fist connect with Declan’s face. A part of me wants to join him and inflict the kind of pain he’s inflicted on me for the past several weeks. But I also remember, this is Brandon and Tracy’s wedding, and it’s about to be ruined by this mess. This asshole just keeps managing to show up when we think things have settled down. That’s what’s so fucked up about this.

This guy claims to be friends with Brandon, yet he showed up at his wedding determined to fuck things up, and if not, he planned to finish what he started with me.

Eric now steps between Declan and Ethan, stopping what could turn into something Ethan might not be able to stop. The last thing I want is Ethan to get arrested along with Declan for being unable to control himself.
