“We’re so … wrong,” Chad shook his head, and tried to retrieve his hand, but Romeo didn’t release him. He led Chad back towards the house, where it was warm and cozy and free of death.

“You will tell me what’s been bothering you, right?”

“Nothing’s bothering me.”

Chad dragged his feet. “Romeo.”

“I will.” Romeo sighed. “First, let’s go inside.”

Romeo demanded Chad take off his boots. Chad scolded Romeo for leaving a muddy handprint on the wall. The kitchen held the scent of spices, the living room sofas overflowed with cushions and blankets.

The sheets on the beds were clean, scented candles perfumed the whole of the upstairs.

Romeo pulled Chad into the bedroom, but stopped him when he tried to dart into the bathroom. “No…”

Chad protested weakly, fighting, but not fighting. He surrendered too quickly for genuine fear and allowed Romeo to push him against the wall. The only dirt in the house came from them. Muddy clothes, sweaty bodies, broken minds.

“Can I make it up to you now?” Romeo whispered against Chad’s neck.

“I think…” Chad swallowed. “I think the moment’s passed.”

“And I think you’re a … person that repeatedly tells mistruths, four letters.”

“That’s a lazy clue. You’re losing your edge.”

Romeo hummed. “Well, I’m rather distracted.”

Chad’s eyes slid shut and he sighed as Romeo began kissing his throat. Romeo’s lips were warm, his tongue hot. Resisting either was a futile exercise.

Chad’s hips burned where Romeo had hold of him.

Romeo smirked before kissing down Chad’s shirt, dropping to his knees and stopping at the top of his black pants. Romeo insisted Chad wear his detective clothes—jacket, tie, shirt, and pants.

He’d removed the jacket while shoveling dirt, but everything else remained the same, no longer crisp, but wrinkled, wet with sweat, dirty with mud, and stained with arousal.

“My broken detective…” Romeo opened Chad’s pants and shot a wicked look Chad’s way. “Moment’s passed?”

He yanked Chad’s boxers down so fast he gasped with shock. His cock swung free, as hard as it had been in the outhouse.

“Watching me kill really does get you going, doesn’t it?”

Chad licked his lips. “It’s your fault.”

“How’s that?”

He didn’t reply out loud, but in his head, the answer echoed. It was the best sex of his life full of confusion and conflict and an earth-shattering climax. Not to mention Romeo looked so fucking sexy while he did it.

Chad thrust his hips and caught Romeo on the chin with his cock.

He laughed, rubbing his skin as if the impact had hurt.

“Stop being so…” Romeo quirked an eyebrow. “Nine letters, restl—”

“No, please no crossword clues, I can’t think right now.”

Romeo ran his open mouth along Chad’s cock while it bobbed. Chad could feel Romeo’s smirks against it, but he was too turned on to care. As long as it ended up in his mouth, he could mock and shame all he wanted, but crossword clues—no.

“You want this?”
