“No, you misunderstand,” I tell him. “I was making sure he was on your list. He didn’t care that he was hurting an innocent girl, he bullied me for years, and he hurt my mother. I don’t have any compassion for that monster.”

Greg grunts in surprise before nodding. “Understood. My concern is for Lennon. I want to know if she wants to be there for any of it. Sometimes, someone who has been through what she has needs proof that person can’t hurt her anymore. And other times, they need to facilitate how the vermin is exterminated,” Greg explains and my eyes widen.

He wants to know if Lennon will want to participate in killing the people who hurt her. She may, Lennon has felt the thrill of a kill, she followed Collymore into the hallway to finish him.

I don’t blame her one damn bit.

“I can’t say either way what she’d want,” Roark rumbles, as he looks over to her peacefully sleeping. “The things that happened to her are going to change her in some way. In fact, they already have, and I won’t stand in her way from finding peace. Whatever the fuck Lenny wants, she can have, as far as I’m concerned.”

Turner and I grunt in agreement and Greg smirks. “I’m going to go through my contacts and line up a few therapists and a nurse for Lennon when she’s released. The hospital has been completely cleared of personnel, patients, and paperwork. Hidden Hills will suffer an explosion due to a gas leak that will be tracked back to Grant as arson in the next hour,” he reports and I smother a laugh.

“He won’t be able to collect any insurance money,” I wheeze, losing the battle with my laughter.

Greg nods smugly. “They’ll be investigating him for fraud, and being royal pains in his ass. That is, if he doesn’t just try to disappear instead. Xav can’t protect himself anymore, much less your father. So we’ll be hunting them and Carrie. Ina, who some of you knew as Nurse Imelda, is giving us all kinds of information right now. She did a lot of sneaking around, and Xav wasn’t always great about keeping his private calls quiet. Ina asked me to thank Lennon for protecting her as well, so l’ll need to make sure I do that,” Greg says, eyes glancing over at Len.

After a moment, he blinks quickly and continues. “Lennon is an incredible woman. There are few people who could have withstood a trigger word the way she did after being conditioned to it. Xav made her believe no one was coming for her, and he will be punished for it. I want in when it comes to making him scream,” Greg tells us, a cruel smile gracing his lips. “The man has many crimes to answer for.”

“Including Red,” Turner growls.

Greg stands as he looks over at Turner. “Including Tori. Now, once Lennon can travel, you can decide where you’d like to go. The tour is on hiatus while she heals, so you aren’t tied down to anything. However, Georgetown would welcome you all. Layla’s tour is south bound for the next two months Jordan told me, and I think I need to start training Lennon again, if she’s up for it,” he amends.

I swear this man is a mind reader.

“I was just talking about how I think she should be able to defend herself better. I want her to feel safe, know she can get out of bad situations without having to move to her last resort,” I finish softly.

Greg knows exactly what I mean as he touches my shoulder, getting ready to leave.

“If you all come to stay with us, I’ll teach her how to fight her way out,” he tells me.

“Greg?” Turner asks with a sigh. Greg turns towards him, forehead furrowed. “Lennon is worried she’s a weapon. Everyone who knows her trigger word has to go. I don’t know if she can be unconditioned, or how it all works, but it’s a real worry for her. What if she can’t stop the command next time?”

Greg fists his hands, angry for Lennon. “I’ll make sure the therapists I recommend are able to work with clients who have been exposed to this. But I agree, all of the personnel at the hospital are going to a maximum security or are being sentenced to death under the kill order. It may sound heavy handed, but they fucked with Lennon,” he insists. “Collymore is dead, but Elaine is being detained in a very uncomfortable cell. I found out more about what they did to Lennon when I made her sing for me. They’re monsters.”

I have to agree with this. They are. “I’m glad there’s some sort of plan,” I admit. “Thank you, Greg.”

Roark and Turner agree and Greg nods. “Try to get a little sleep, I’m going to the safe house to crash myself. Orion is either there already or will be soon,” Greg says.

He leaves and I think about everything he told us. “We’re going to figure out how to properly introduce her to Orion at some point,” I mutter, trying to get comfortable in the chair to nap.

“Oye, I’m gonna add that to my list of problems for when I wake up,” Roark yawns.

My lips twitch, my eyes already closing.

* * *

The doctors agreeto release Lennon at nine at night, something they walked in to discuss with us when we all woke up from our nap.

There were some things the doctors wanted to see happen before they’d agree to discharge her. Lennon agreed to all of them.

“The nurse will be bringing in some food, is there anything you’d like? I understand you haven’t been eating much lately, so I would suggest something lighter to start with,” Dr. Havers recommends.

Lennon thinks about it for a second. “Can we start with soup? I know I should be hungry, so I’m not entirely sure why I’m not.” Lennon sounds confused by this, which makes sense because she’s always hungry.

Since Lennon has been starved before, her body may be shutting down to protect her from the hunger pains. Fuck, I squeeze my fist so hard in anger as I think about this, my knuckles pop.

“Soup it is,” Dr. Havers agrees. “I’m sure you’d like to have a shower, but my suggestion is that someone help you. I can have a nurse help—” He watches as Lennon pales and her blood pressure drops. “Or would you be more comfortable with one of your guys helping you?”

Dr. Havers is gentle and accommodating, waiting for Lennon to take a deep breath before she nods.
