I snicker, not feeling the slightest bit of regret. Derek brings me a hoodie, motioning for me to lift my arms. Once covered, I push off the blankets, no longer needing them.

“I’m sure he did. I just woke up from a nap, so I haven’t spoken to him yet. I’ll let him know that James is being held by the police, and we’ll probably head out tomorrow morning. I’m ready to continue tying up loose ends, and want to be somewhere stable by Christmas.”

“Fuck, that’s in a week. I can’t believe how quickly time is passing. I’ll meet you up there tomorrow. I may be the only one who can get the fucker to see reason. He’s being an asshole about this, and probably a little scared that you’re telling the truth,”Uncle Jordan confesses.

I shrug. “The truth is far-fetched, but unfortunately this is my reality. I wish I could change it, and my mother was still dead, because my life would just be easier. I hate that things are like this but…”

“But you can’t change it,”Uncle Jordan finished. “We’ll fix things one step at a time, without rolling you up in bubble wrap. We’re all a little ridiculous when it comes to your safety.”

“Does it help that I have a tracker, and you all can find me no matter what?” I ask him helpfully.

“You… what?!”he roars. Orion chuckles and Derek covers his face and groans.

“Lennon, you’re gonna get us in trouble. It sounds way worse than it is,” Derek says.

“You chipped my niece,”Uncle Jordan growls.

“I asked them to,” I sigh. “There’s a lot I need to tell you when we catch up tomorrow. Actually… I only want to tell this once, so we need to get Layla for this story too.”

I hear Uncle Jordan tapping on his computer, humming. “She has a show in two days an hour away from Charleston. Layla is off today and tomorrow, so I won’t have any trouble sneaking away. Mav and Atlas will keep her busy, and I’m about to fire her other band mates,”he tells me.

I’m hungry for any tidbits of information about my sister, maybe because I’ve been so disconnected from everything in the real world. I had wondered if anything would develop between Layla, Maverick, and Atlas, and I smile because she deserves to be well taken care of, even if I’m a little sad because I’ve missed so damn much.

Taking a breath, I tell Jordan, “I want to be at her show, in the wings. I don’t think I could handle crowds right now, but I want to see her perform. Does she have a break the day after?” I ask.

“Yes. She gets two days off after every show. I promise I’m taking good care of her,”Jordan chuckles.

I nod, even though he can’t see me, because it’s the scheduleThe Darkest Nightsshould have been on. “Good, so I’ll see how much I’ll be able to set up our house, because apparently Greg is giving us one next door to his,” I tell him. I laugh because it’s still so surreal to me. It’ll be nice to have a real house, because we’ve been living out of suitcases, hotels, and a tour bus for years.

“Holy shit, we do have a lot to talk about,”he says in surprise. I guess Greg hasn’t been doing a great job at keeping him in the loop.

“Yep, so I don’t know how put together the house will be, but it may be better than sleeping on a tour bus?” I offer.

“That sounds lovely,” he assures me. “I’ll see you tomorrow then, and we’ll go from there. Take care, Lennon.”

I say goodbye, hang up, and sigh. “I feel like there’s so much to do,” I confess, and Orion shrugs.

“You have a lot of help, we’ll make it all work. Let’s go update Greg, and figure out our next step,” he offers. Nodding, I stand up, frowning when the room spins a little.

“I may need to eat something,” I tell them, and they nod. Orion hops out of bed as well, and we walk together to find food and Greg. Thankfully, this hoodie is huge, and I don’t have to bother with pants.

“Lenny, it’s about time you’re awake,” Roark yells as we walk down the stairs and I giggle. “I’m making food, come get something to eat, baby girl.”

I don’t even know what time it is, but it’s already dark out.

I find Roark, Turner, and Greg chatting as they work together to get dinner plated.

“Hey, I didn’t mean to sleep for so long,” I tell them with a sheepish smile.

Turner shrugs, handing me a plate of chicken, roasted potatoes, and Brussels sprouts. My stomach rumbles and I chuckle, embarrassed.

“Sit and eat, baby girl. You worked hard, and you probably needed the rest,” Turner says with a shrug.

I love that they all know what we went to do, and again no one bats an eye. Sitting at the island, I take a bite of my food and sigh happily.

“So, Lennon got a call from Jordan,” Derek says, smirking, seeing that I got distracted by food.

“Yeah? What did he have to say? I checked an hour ago, and it looked like he had things under control. James hadn’t been taken into custody yet when I looked, though,” Greg tells me.
