“I wouldn’t go that far but we probably would have talked a lot more if Hunter hadn’t interrupted us.”
I had forgotten all about Hunter for a moment.
“Hunter? As in—”
“Yes, Hunter from Human Resources is here.”
Rosie was quiet for a long time.
“Are you joking? I mean, why would he be there?”
“He says it’s a coincidence.”
“Do you believe him?” she asked me.
I thought about that question long and hard. It still felt suspicious to me. “Not really, but I don’t have any other explanation. We never talked about the trip at work except that one time in my office, with the door shut.”
“Yeah, I don’t know. That just seems… weird.”
“I agree, and I really hope he doesn’t ruin my fun. I wanted to really let go and be free, but it feels like my stepmother is watching over my shoulder even here.” I let out a deep sigh. “I don’t think they can fire me for something I do on vacation, right?”
“Legally? Probably not but—”
“Yeah, yeah, I know.”
“Listen. He wants to hook up with you, Snow. Clearly, that man is borderline obsessed with you. Actually, scratch the borderline part, he is obsessed. He’s likely thinking this is his chance to finally get with you.”
“Yeah, no. Not happening.”
“No way, especially when you have sexy French men and Thor look-a-likes prancing around. Are there any other hotties I should know about?”
I laughed. “God, so many. Like the head of security that stepped up when Hunter wasn’t getting the hint that I didn’t want to go back to his room. He looked… rough. Like someone who doesn’t take shit from anyone, but in a hot way, you know?”
“Absolutely. I love a dominant, tough guy.”
“And the guy checking me in had the sweetest smile, he was so upbeat and cheerful, and of course handsome. Like, he could model if he wanted to. And then there’s the guy who handles the cottage design, he’s dreamy… literally. He kept talking about the beds and I wanted to hop into bed with him.”
“Sounds like you have plenty of options then.”
“That’s just the staff,” I said with a giggle.
"Have any guests caught your eye?”
I thought about that for a second. I was in a small group. There were men and women, some couples, some singles. “To be honest, I couldn’t tell you what a single one of the guys in my group looked like. I was too distracted.”
“By the sexy staff?”
“Yes,” I laughed, “But also no, Hunter was just being weird.”
“Yeah, be careful, just in case. Everything about this just seems off to me.”
“The staff are already on top of it, and I feel safe in their care,” I said. “There’s security cameras all over this place and after meeting the head of security, I feel like I’m safer here than I am at home even.”
“Good, I’m glad you’re in good hands. Hopefully you’ll have some oftheirhands all over you at some point, or I’m going to be incredibly disappointed.”
I rolled my eyes again. I couldn’t deny that the idea sounded nice. Every one of the staff members were men I would gladly get to know better, but it was likely against the rules.
“Alright, go and enjoy your resort, but don’t forget about your bestie, and update me on everything. I’m so jealous!”
