I actually liked the idea of keeping in touch with Snow. Maybe I was thinking too far ahead but perhaps it would lead to something down the road. I reminded myself that the romantic side of me was always getting in trouble and moving too fast but I really did like her.

“Oh I will be back, that much is guaranteed,” she said. “So anyway, here’s what I have so far…”

She handed me the laptop.

“There’s only one sentence so far,” I said.

“But it’s a good one, right? I’m off to a great start!”

I had to laugh because I knew that feeling all too well. At least she was proud of that single line of work, rather than questioning if she had the talent to actually write the piece. She was smiling and looking at me with anticipation in her eyes.

“It’s a great line,” I said. “It makes me want more.”

“That’s the thing, I’m not sure what else to write. It’s not like I’ve had the chance to experience much. First, there was Hunter, and now I’m leaving early… it’s not like I can write about all the crazy sexcapades I’ve had with the staff.”

She winked at me playfully while sipping her coffee. Her hair was pulled into a braid that wrapped around one side and over her shoulder. She wasn’t wearing any makeup and seemed to be in what looked like pajamas, but she was still gorgeous beyond words. It took everything in me not to make a move on her right then and there, but she had asked for my help, and I wanted to help her.

“Well, what have you experienced besides the obviously amazing sex?”

“Obviously some of the nicest, most amazing staff I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.” Her smile grew even wider.

“Well I’m glad you were pleased with our service,” I said. “I think that’s something you can definitely write about. Leaving out exactlyhowwe served you is probably a good idea.”

“I think that’s for the best. It’s already a hard sell because many of the travel magazines don’t want to publish any articles about it due to the adult-content of the resort. I think I’d make it even harder on myself if I talked about the sexy bits.”

“I think that’s a good idea then. What else have you done?”

“I played the ice breaker at the club, which was a lot of fun. And I spent some time at the pool. I even took off my swimsuit and enjoyed a little nude swimming, which was refreshing.”

“I think those are all things you should talk about in your article,” I said. “And you still have another day here, so make the most of it. Anything else you do before you leave can be added.”

I hated that she was leaving so soon. I would have loved to have been able to show her so many more delightful things and everything that the resort—and apparently the staff—had to offer. I’d have to talk to the guys and let them know that she was leaving early, maybe we could do something special for her. I knew they felt pretty close to her too, and I also knew that I wasn’t the only one who had the hots for her.

Snow sighed heavily before saying, “Yeah, you’re right, thanks for the advice. I really need this writing thing to take off. I definitely need to be able to leave my current job. Just in case I don’t make it in writing, I’ve also started applying to other companies, but I know there’s no way I’m going to land a job that pays as well as this one. I am technically a biased hire, I can’t deny that. Even if I do work my ass off, I’m young and don’t have near the experience or education of those I’m competing against…. It feels futile.”

Her entire demeanor had changed since I had arrived. She was no longer smiling. She stared down at the laptop screen as if willing for the words to write themselves. Again, I knew that feeling all too well.

I picked up the laptop and placed it on the table, closing it.

“I think you’re being too hard on yourself, putting too much pressure on this one piece,” I said. “Putting too much pressure on yourself too, I might add.”

“Yeah, probably. But I need this to work, Bash.”

“Itwillwork, Snow. But writing isn’t something you can force. Not good writing, at least.”

“Is that why you haven’t written much lately?”

She turned the conversation back around to me.

“Yes, and no. I mean, mostly yes. It’s just, well, I’ve written myself into a bit of a hole.”

“How so?”

“I want my couple to end up together, happily ever after.”

“You’re writing romance?” She cocked an eyebrow in amusement. “I’m impressed.”

“Not romance, exactly. Think…Wuthering Heights, but a little less, well, depressing.”
