“Ihave some news,” I said. We were in our regular morning meeting. A week had passed since Snow left us, and it had been hard to get back to our regular routine, but as usual, Reed was there to keep us all on track. “And it’s not good news.”

“What’s going on?” Reed asked.

“I heard from a lawyer representing Hunter Wilde. He is going to file a suit against our resort for forcibly removing him from the premises,” I said.

The room went silent, so I cleared my throat and continued. “He claims that Gage got a bit rough with him and attacked him.”

I pulled the photos out of the folder that the lawyer had sent to me and passed them around the room.

“Wait, he claims that Gage left these bruises?” Reed asked.

“Yep.”

“And the blood on his shirt too?” Reed asked.

“Yes.”

Gage jumped from his seat and walked over to Reed, grabbing the photos from him with a scowl on his face that would have scared small children and many grown men too. “That blood is mine. The bastard punched me in the face and my nose was bleeding,” he said.

“And the bruises?” I hated to ask.

“I didn’t do anything that would have left those bruises,” he growled. He looked up at me. “Do you really think I would do that?”

“No, I don’t. I just need some answers and to know what happened after you escorted him out.”

“He tried to fight me, and—” Gage trailed off.

“And?” I prodded him to continue.

“We ended up on the ground, but I didn’t punch him. I stopped myself before things got to that point.” He averted his gaze. He wasn’t telling us everything. I knew Gage well enough to know when he was hiding something from us.

“We need to know everything that happened, and if there is security video footage from that day, it would help. I’m sure they will be requesting it as evidence, if this goes to court,” I said, speaking slowly as I studied Gage for a reaction.

“I’ll get you the tapes.” He threw down the pictures and walked back to his seat but didn’t sit down. His fists were clenched at his side as he paced around the back of the room.

“Hunter’s lawyer has asked me to come in to town and meet with him and his client,” I said.

“I’m coming too.” Gage said.

Reed and I shared a look. Gage was pretty angry, and sometimes he wasn’t the most rational when enraged. I wasn’t sure if it would be wise to have him in the room with Hunter and his lawyer; Gage might say something or worse, dosomething to hurt the case.

“It’s not up for debate,” Gage said. “I’m going.”

He slammed his fists down on the table and looked at me, and I knew there was no way I would be leaving him behind. Once again, I glanced over at Reed.

“I’m going too, then,” Reed said slowly, letting out a sigh.

Inside I was thanking him silently. I knew if anyone could keep Gage under control, it was Reed. He was one of the few people who could rein him in when he went over the deep end.

“Well that settles it then. I guess we’re headed to South Carolina next week.”

“Snow is going to be joining us at the meeting, since it partially involves her,” I told the guys as we sat down for lunch. “And she has agreed to meet us beforehand, she should be here any minute.”

I had left that last bit as a surprise for Gage and Anthony. I knew that they were likely aching to see Snow. I knew I was though it worried me that I was so excited to see her again, especially considering how little time we actually had spent together. I didn’t like feeling so strongly about someone and I didn’t know what to do with all of the emotions I felt for Snow.
