“You didn’t have to call the cops, did you?”

“No. Weirdest thing. Unmarked vehicle. Two bodyguards, and a woman they called ‘Princess.’ Threw me this” -- I pull out the money, her eyes getting huge -- “and took off.”

“Russian accent?”

I think for a second. “No. American.”

“Probably a Kardashian.”

“Hah! My first thought, too.”

“Write a report. We’ll run a search.”

“I don’t want distractions. We have to find the woman I ID’d in the database. We've got a lot on the line. We're so damn close."

"Here." Lauren pushes a manila folder my way. Old fashioned, right? Why not use an encrypted file?

Because anything electronic can be hacked. Anything.

I should know. I'm the one who breaks the unbreakable codes.

I open the folder to find a beautiful young blonde in a photo, bent down, wearing yoga leggings, petting a tiny yorkie dog.

I fight the spike of adrenaline that shoots through me as I look.

That’s Paigelynn. It has to be. Looks just like her.

"Viking Virgin?" I say, fighting to control my voice.

"Yes. Name unknown."

"How did you get a picture?"

"We got very lucky."

"How?"

"You know I can't tell you."

I glance at the picture again. "What can you tell me?"

"She came up in a normal search, but this picture is from a database in Mexico. A tourist database."

"I don't understand."

"She was in a database with a group of tourists. The picture was taken five years ago."

"Tourists? You know her handlers wouldn’t allow her to casually travel. What the hell? You're sure it's the same woman we're closing in on?"

Lauren nods. "I don't know if she's escaped, or she's being protected by the group."

I look at the picture again. "Either way, it's super weird. A hit on a Mexican database as a tourist?"

"Exactly."

I push the folder away. "This is a wild goose chase."

"Not quite. But it's a hit. Look at the next picture."
