Chapter One

Cross

She’s bent over the counter, her long raven hair flowing around her. My hand on her neck holds her in place. I don’t know what it is about this girl, but something about her drives me insane.

“You want it harder?” I ask as I thrust into her. Her body bounces as I fuck her, and I’m mesmerized by how her ass moves as I pound into her.

“Yes,” she moans. Fucking her harder, I grip her hip and take her faster, making sure I get deeper with each thrust. I pound into her until I can feel my balls draw up and tighten. I lose control and come hard inside of her. She isn’t far behind me. I pull out and remove my hand from the back of her neck when I finish. Raven stands and flips her skirt back into place as I pull the condom off and toss it into the trash.

“Thanks,” she throws over her shoulder as she walks out of my bathroom. I shake my head and blow out a breath. Raven. Fucking Raven. She’s been here since we raided that trafficking house a few months ago. Raven was one of the girls we pulled out of there. She’s different than the other girls. I can’t explain how, but she is. Raven came to me one day asking for sex. Initially, I was a little hesitant, but I felt this pull to her. A connection I know I shouldn’t have because I have a girlfriend. A girl I should be thankful for, but instead, I find myself drawn back to Raven.

“Cross?” Speak of the girlfriend, and she appears. I sigh, shoving off the counter before turning and grabbing my jeans. I pull them on before stepping out of the bathroom and seeing Cara standing there.

“What are you doing?”

“I was goin’ to the bathroom,” I tell her. Lies. I’m good at those.

“Well, I wanted to go out tonight. Are we still good to do that?” Cara asks. I nod my head, knowing I need to take the girl somewhere. She deserves that much.

“Yeah, we’re good. Just let me grab a shower and talk to Demon.”

“Okay. I’ll wait out in the main room,” she says, flipping her golden blonde hair over her shoulder and walking out of my room. How did I get so lucky with her? Cara would do anything I told her to. I’m pretty sure she would jump off a bridge if I asked her to. So why the hell am I still stuck on Raven? That’s the question I find myself asking over and over again. I never come up with a solid answer either. Nothing makes sense to me.

Instead of dwelling on it, I turn and head back into the bathroom, strip, and climb into the shower. I turn the water on as hot as possible and stand under the sprayer. I let the hot water cascade around me, blocking out the rest of the world. Blocking her out.

How fucked up is it to get involved with a victim of human trafficking? Raven’s been used for a long time, and now I’m doing the same. Or is Raven using me? Maybe that’s what this is.

I finish my shower and climb out, drying off. Then I walk into my room and grab some clothes, pulling them on. In no time, I’m ready to go. I shove my phone into my pocket and light a cigarette before walking back to the main room. Cara sits in the corner talking to Evie as I walk toward the bar to talk to Demon.

“You headin’ out?” he asks.

“Yeah. Gotta take the girl somewhere,” I tell him.

“Don’t sound so happy about it,” he says.

“I won’t. Everything good here?”

“Yeah, for now. We haven’t gotten any hits lately, so we’re just waitin’ it out,” he informs me. We’ve been waiting for any hits on other activities going down around our area. We’ve already taken out two houses, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t more.

“Good. Maybe that’s a good thing?” I ask him. Drake shrugs his shoulders before taking a pull from the bottle in his hand.

“I sure as hell hope so. Not that I minded havin’ the extra girls around here, it’s just a lot.”

“Heard that. It gets hectic,” I tell him.

“Yeah, but I wouldn’t change that shit for anything. We get the girls out of that situation,” he adds. I nod my head, agreeing with him. I think most of the guys here would do anything to keep that shit from happening.

“Yeah, I get it. Anything you need before I head out?” I ask him. Drake shakes his head.

“Nah, we’re good, brother.” I nod and turn to look at Cara. Raven has walked over and joined the conversation now. Just looking at her does something to me. I should break it off, but I can’t. She turns her head, our eyes lock, and that’s it. She’s everything I need, so why the hell am I still with Cara? That’s easy. Raven doesn’t want a relationship. She’s made that very clear to me that she wants sex, and that’s it. Luckily for me, it’s something I gladly offer her.

“You ready?” I ask Cara when I get close enough. She looks up at me, smiling, and everything suddenly seems wrong and out of place. I no longer feel the same connection. That same spark.

“Yeah, I’m ready.” Nodding my head, I hold out my hand for her to take, and she slowly slides hers into mine. Then I pull her along as we walk out of the clubhouse and toward her car. She hates riding on my bike. It makes her nervous.

And there’s yet another reason I’m rethinking this whole thing with her.
