“I didn’t think shit. Fuck off.” I’m not in the mood to deal with his shit. I’m pissed, and I’m upset that she actually left.

I toss back another couple of shots before I take a long pull from my beer when Demon walks over.

“That hit up north was a good one.” I turn my head to look at Demon and nod. I’m glad we took some of those assholes off the street too. So far, we haven’t heard anything more happening around here.

“That’s good.”

“Yet you don’t sound happy about it.”

“I’m fuckin’ happy.”

“This because she left?” I turn my head to look at him and nod once. He nods back before sliding me another shot. I take it down before spinning on my stool to look at every one. She was happy here. She smiled. What changed? What went wrong?

“Just thought she’d be here,” I tell him.

“It’s fucked up, but maybe she needed this. She needed this time.”

“Yeah, probably right.”

“We got a shipment comin’ in tomorrow if that makes you feel better.”

“Oh yeah? We movin’ it?” I ask.

“Yeah. Up to Augusta,” he replies.

“No shit? We haven’t moved much up there in a while.”

“Yeah, Liam put in an order. You down to ride?”

“I’m always down to ride,” I answer him taking another long pull from my bottle.

“That’s what I wanted to hear.”

“You thought I’d say no?” I ask him, glancing over at him.

“I wasn’t sure where your head was at.”

“Same place as always,” I tell him.

“Nah, you’re off because of her. This gonna be an issue?” I shift in my seat before I turn to face him fully.

“She isn’t an issue. I’m good, Demon,” I tell him once more. I’m not sure that he actually believes me, but I don’t really give a shit either. Am I pissed that she left? Yeah, I am, but it’s life.

“Good. I’m glad your head is in the right place.”

“It is. I’ll be ready for the run.” He nods his head and grabs his beer bringing it to his lips.

Music plays over the speakers, and I watch the girls dance in the middle of the room. I’m happy to see them so happy. I’m glad that they can have a good time with each other. I don’t even pay attention when the door opens. I don’t pay attention to who comes in until a hand lands on my shoulder. I turn my head and glance over, seeing Cara standing there.

“What are you doin’ here?”

“I thought we could talk.”

“Pretty sure we’re past that point.”

“Are we?” she asks softly.

“I was gonna break things off anyway, Cara.”
