Maybe I wasn’t the only one trying to leave a good impression.

She pulled up in front of the place that had been converted into a boarding home for not-local members of the crew to stay in. When she stopped the car, I was tempted to invite her up to my room. To talk. For something else.

A woman like this deserved more than a one-night stand, but I wasn’t ready to give up her company yet.

I shifted in my seat, so I was facing her, and she turned to me, curiosity on her face.

“You keep trying to convince me you lead a secret, fascinating life,” I said. “But you’re already intriguing to me as you are.”

Kandace’s laugh was abrupt. “I’m a soccer mom, but my kid doesn’t play soccer. I’m schedules and order and plans that span into the next decade without a lot of wiggle room. I’m not the woman men call prettyjust becauseand mean it.” She puffed out her cheeks in a long sigh. “And I don’t know why I just told you all of that, but I am who I am.”

I placed a finger under her chin and raised her head so I could meet her gaze. “I really did mean it, even if it came off like a line. I was sincere.” She was stunning, and her personality was so real. So the opposite of everything I hated about Hollywood. Even now, staring into her eyes, I was drawn in. Captivated.

Before I fully registered what I was doing, I tilted my head, leaned in, and brushed my lips over hers.

She was going to pull away and slap me.

But she didn’t. She leaned into me with soft lips and a softer gasp.

And the sparks.Holy fuck. I needed more. I slid my hand to the back of her neck, to grip tightly, and deepened the kiss. She tasted like breath mints and coffee, andGod,I couldn’t get enough. When she clenched my shirt in her fists, when she whimpered against my mouth, I was instantly hard.

I wanted to pull her into my lap and explore her with kisses, but I didn’t want to break away. Didn’t want to shatter this moment.

Kandace leaned harder into me, and I felt her lose her balance. But she caught herself without ending the lip-lock. Her hand landed on my thigh, brushing my cock through my jeans, and I couldn’t help my groan.

She giggled into the kiss, and danced her fingers along the outline of my erection.

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. As in, I wanted to fuck her right here in the parking lot. I glided my good hand along the curve of her neck, over her breast, to tease a nipple through her clothing.

She gasped and pressed into my touch.

We were making out in a hotel back lot like horny teenagers, electricity wrapping around us, and I wanted—needed—to keep going.

A rap on the window sent my heart plummeting into my feet, and we both jumped. I turned to see a police officer standing next to the vehicle.

Oops.

The window slid down between us. That must’ve been Kandace, because my brain was still in my dick.

“I’m going to have to ask you two to take this inside. Or somewhere else. One of the residents across the street complained.” The officer looked like he wanted to be anywhere but here.

I couldn’t help my laugh. “Yeah. Sorry about that. We’re going.”

“Thanks.” He turned away quickly.

I turned back to Kandace to find her laughing with her face in her hands. “That was incredible,” I said. “You’re incredible.Nowcan I buy you lunch tomorrow?”

“Okay.” Her reply was muffled.

I grasped her wrist to pull her hand away and look her in the eye. “Enjoy the rest of your day, Kandace Newton.”

“You too.”

I’d kiss her again, but I doubted it would be any easier to stop the second time, so I forced myself to exit the vehicle.

A goofy giddiness filled me as I headed up to my room. I wasn’t a hermit or celibate or anything so drastic. I dated whoever caught my eye, but I rarely clicked with anyone.

Kandace though… And then we were making out in her car. How…?
