These women are not what I expected at all. I’m not sure what I was expecting but not these women. Doll is giving her man down the road about something, and he clearly looks chagrin over what’s being discussed while the other women act…normal. No one is being heavily watched over, no threatening looks are being exchanged and I’m pretty sure Nori and Pyro meet every now and then just to kiss before going back to what they were doing before.

“You look completely lost. Don’t worry. You’ll be fine, I promise. Just hang on tight to Odin and he’ll take care of you.” Jinx gives me a quick squeeze.

“I don’t…I don’t want him to have to take care of me. That hardly seems fair.”

This time she looks lost and then she starts horse laughing at what I just said. “For the Sons they don’t really do fair when it comes to their ladies.”

Is the truth finally about to come out?

“They go a little ‘extra’ for the women they chose to love,” Dolly elaborastes. “And they always take care of their old ladies. To be an old lady is…forever for the wives of the Sons.”

Before I can ask more questions Jinx speaks up, “The Sons mate for life.”

All the women laugh at this and nod or give an enthusiastic ‘yeah’.

“But…that’s not…,” I lower my voice not wanting everyone in the group to hear but having to confide or confess to someone. And Jink’s makes it so easy to look at her as a confidant. “That’s not how it is for me and Ander…Odin.” I shake my head at the slip back into the past, “He married me because he had to. To keep me safe.”

That makes this ten times worse if what the girls say is true and the men only marry once. Jinx looks to Dolly and Dolly looks to Nori and then they all get Cheshire grins on their faces.

“Look, I don’t know the history you two have between you, but I do know no one thing, absolutely no one makes Odin do anything he doesn’t want to do.”

Jinx seems so certain, so sure of everything in her life, that it’s hard to doubt her. Odin’s shadow falls over me when he comes to get me. We tell some people bye before I toss the bouquet that is handed back to me, and everything feels so normal and real for a second. The bundle of flowers flies through the air and lands on the lap of an unsuspecting Jinx.

Before I can truly observe the mayhem this causes, Odin is pulling me away and walks us outside to a classic convertible car with its top down. Before I can reach my hand out for the handle Odin is pulling me back and staring at the car like he’s never seen it before. He picks me up and walks backward leaving me confused and wondering what he is doing when the world goes white for long minutes and my hearing fades in and out.

When I finally get my senses under control again it’s to find that I am lying under Odin and the car we were about to get into and drive off in is a flaming fireball of burning metal.

“Oh my God!” I cling to his vest with a tight enough grip he’s going to have perma-imprint on the denim.

We both look over to where other members have come to help. Odin’s eyes go to Pyro and the man turns pale as a sheet. “That one most definitely wasn’t me, Prez!”

And then things get a lot more serious than they were before.

Chapter Nine

____________

Odin

I specifically had the car brought to the front of her parent’s house so Lori wouldn’t have to hop on a bike right away. And yet somehow my pretty little bride has a motorcycle vibrating between her thighs and a husband that is livid but loving this ride.

Her little hands have my shirt under my vest knotted so tightly she’s never letting me loose and feeling Lori’s thighs surrounding mine and the heat of her body pressed to my back is like a fucking aphrodisiac. She might as well be the little blue pill when she climbs on the back of a bike. And she’s all mine.

I take my hand away from the handlebars to rub hers before turning on the road that leads to our clubhouse. I pull up and Brushy introduces himself to my new bride while opening the gate for us. And Lori…charms the hell out of the old bastard.

By the time I pull up outside where we park the bikes, I’m thinking I might have to beat the hell out of the old biker for trying to sweet talk my girl. I help Lori off the back of the bike and lead her upstairs to my suite. Being president of an MC has its perks and getting the biggest space is one of them.

She enters my room, the first woman who has ever done so, and starts looking around. She finds the bathroom with the big ass shower and the huge bathtub - which I’ve never used but was thinking ahead for when I had an old lady. And then she’s going from the bedroom back to the living room area with its connecting kitchen. It really is like a little apartment. But still, not exactly the place I was hoping to take my new wife for our first night of married life.

“I know it sucks, but I promise, we’ll go on a honeymoon as soon as all of this shit blows over, princess.”

And my new bride surprises me by bursting out crying. I’m by her side picking her up and sitting her in my lap so I can find out what the fuck is wrong. I can’t imagine it has anything to do with not having a honeymoon right away.

But I don’t go digging right away. Instead, I hold her until the emotional storm blows over and she’s cried herself out.

“Why you crying, princess?” Doesn’t she know it breaks my heart?

“I just…I don’t think this will ever be over.” She sniffs and refuses to meet my eyes. “Not until I’m dead. They don’t care about life, Odin. They won’t stop until I’m dead and everyone I’m around is in danger. Don’t you see? This will never be over.”
