“You can just put her down anywhere.”

What kind of mother talks about their daughter like she’s a fucking trinket to be set up on some shelf or a fucking carpet to be thrown on the floor. Oh, just put her down anywhere? Really? I give her a growl and a snarled lip before quietly speaking.

“Leave.”

The quieter I become the worse things are going to be for the person who has ultimately pissed me off. Anyone who knows me understands that the moment I become quiet I’m about to strike. She looks up at me like she’s about to protest and for just a second I have hope she’s not such a fuck shit. Then she has to go and open her mouth again.

“It’s not seemly to be in a young woman’s room before the marriage.”

And my temper slips. “Oh yes, better to fuck and knock her up in the backseat of a car. Tell me, was it a Rolls or some other flashy car? I always forget which one you got ‘in trouble’ in?”

She goes pale and stares back at me with big, round eyes that look like they’ve seen the devil standing in front of her. “If you faint, I’m not catching you. You’ll just have to live with the chipped tooth.”

She twirls away and slams the door as she leaves. I step away from the bed and lock it. When I come back I run my hands over her little body to show myself that she is really here and really within my grasp.

She opens her eyes while I‘m standing over her with my hand still on her hip. As soon as she gains full consciousness she pushes up and away from me until she nearly falls off the other side.

“Hello Lorelei. It’s been a long time hasn’t it?”

“It’s Lori. Not Lorelei.”

“Mmm, I always preferred Princess.”

She narrows her eyes at me making me grin even more. She hates that nickname. She always has.

“So…you left the nest and got yourself into trouble.”

“I went away to college.” She corrects me.

“And found trouble.”

“I don’t know what you’ve been told but I don’t need your help.” God, I love the haughty way she has of talking and looking at a person. It’s a challenge I can’t leave untried.

“Really?”

“Yes, ‘really’. Nothing you can do will be of any help to me. So, I don’t know what you’ve been told or promised but you can just forget it and carry on with your everyday normal life.”

I throw my head back and laugh loudly. When I calm, I start tracking her like a wild animal tracks prey.

“Your momma didn’t tell you anything about me did she?”

Her eyes widen and she doesn’t take her eyes off me much like you would that wild animal I am feeling like.

“Let me guess, she told you I was a ‘member of some very specific club - very elite and exclusive’. Is that about right?”

She doesn’t answer me but looks me up and down taking in the leather and denim, the beard and tattoos.

“OH MY GOD! You…you’re…,” She’s about to get it, folks. She’s circling the answer. “You’re a…a gang member! A biker gang!”

Ding, ding, ding, she finally got it! A smile stretches across my face. “So, you’re not as stupid as your parents after all.”

She looks appalled. “My…my parents…my parents sold me to a biker gang!”

“We prefer motorcycle club actually.”
