“Your life is mine,” I snarl.

Her mouth opens in surprise and her unforgettable scent mingling around us when she starts perspiring. I yank at her hips, gritting my teeth and she fights to hold on. I’m not kind enough to give her a break. Breaks are for good girls and Ava still has a thing or two to learn. She seeks balance by holding on to the glass but her fingertips slide when I twist her hips, pushing upward. Her moans silence, her body no longer caring about holding on but now it’s all about letting go.

Cursing to myself, I tighten the grip around her throat when her pussy tightens around me. She pants, eyes flaring in disbelief before turning sultry. A groan escapes her but catches in her throat when I start strangling.

“Oh please, yes...,” she chokes. Her eyes tear and I buck my hips, wanting her to feel the sting that I feel every time she looks at me. She gasps for her next breath, licking her lips and I put my face to hers to be able to hear her better and she’s letting out soft, guttural sounds that sound like something in between panicky cries and moans.

My girl with the death wish needs to be choked out so badly and my fingers stretch, before renewing their firm hold.

The color of her skin darkens from the rush of blood, her breasts tinting pink and she’s glorious like this. “Does it hurt?” I rasp in her ear. “Does it hurt to know your life is somebody else’s hands and there’s nothing you can do about it?”

She nods fervently, mashing my cock so hard that I let out a roar. Cursing and growling to myself, I yank my belt out, wrap it around her throat and tauten it until it constricts her slender column and she screams from pure, unfiltered lust. My knees shake, all the blood in my brain cutting off and shooting down to my loins.

“Don’t stop,” she gags and her legs spasm. “Oh, you’re going to make me come so hard I’m going to pass out!” Her eyes roll back in her head as if she’s slowly losing consciousness while I pound into her and she gasps for air, causing the corners of her eyes to tear up.

“This is the edge, angel,” I growl against her cheek. This is where we pull each other back just in time, before we lose ourselves entirely and looking into each other’s eyes, we both climax. Ava keeps crying, howling, screeching and it seems like she won’t stop, her fingernails slashing my back, her teeth biting into my lips when she kisses me.

Her tongue laps against mine, softly and then I finally pull out from her mind blowing tightness. I hold on to her to make sure she’s steady and she watches me with dazed eyes. She’s still disoriented, falling against my chest when I take a step back but then she lets out a low snicker. I remove the belt, checking to see if I left any marks but there’s only one and it looks like a ribbon made out of the palest pink.

“Don’t worry about the mark,” Ava whispers hoarsely when I wince and she nibbles my lower lip. She throws a quick glance at herself in the mirror. “I think it’s pretty.”

I let out a hoarse chuckle but turn wary when she puts her clothes on and flicks her hair back. “I know you’re furious,” she croaks, “but I’ve planned this for so long...”

“I’m not fucking doing it, Ava,” I growl.

“Then you give me no choice but to hire someone else...,” she starts but trails off when I take a menacing step closer to her. Gulping, she takes a step back. “I wish you could change the future but you can’t.”

My shoulders start shaking. “You’re not doing this to me. I forbid you.”

Water floods her eyes and then she erupts into sobs before she turns around and runs off.

Chapter Ten

Ava

I feel like I’m running in a daydream.Harm is right behind me and my heart begs to be caught. Just once. Give up everything I’ve known and thought I knew and be brave enough to close my eyes and fall back into the arms of a man I know won’t fail me.

Ever since I had my future foretold, I’ve been fretting and one of the ways I thought I could gain power was by taking matters into my own hands. I didn’t expect to meet Harm, and I didn’t expect to develop feelings this strong for the assassin who refused to fulfill his duty. I’m the only target he has never hit. Funny, then how he managed to hit straight into my heart. Panting, I stop by the cliffs and look over the sea. The sun is setting, the sky a watercolor peach and pink and I inhale the salty breeze, ignoring the shaking in my knees.

“Ava?” I hear Harm’s cautious voice behind me and my hands automatically fly to my throat and despite everything, I can’t help but feel a stirring in my lower belly. “What are you doing?”

His voice. So full of concern and desperation and it makes my skin prickle. I once thought that maybe I would be lucky enough to find immortality in his embrace. And I think I did.

“I just needed to take a breath.” I brush the tears off my face. “And think.”

“Do you have to do it that close to the edge?”

I stifle a laugh, twitching when Harm yanks me to his rock hard chest. “Maybe not,” I whisper, looking up at him. A muscle ticks in his jaw and he wraps his arms around me, pulling me closer until our pelvic bones touch. Licking my lips, I put my face against his heart, listening to it beat and it’s frantic as if I almost gave him a heart-attack for running away. I close my eyes, thinking about how this man has done so much for me. He worked relentlessly to find who he thought was after me and when he found out the truth, he still looked at me with an incessant need in his eyes.

“I didn’t mean to deceive you,” I murmur and he cups the back of my head.

“I know and I’m not mad about that.” Gravel crunches under his boots when he shifts. “It’s just that a part of me can’t believe you had the fucking guts and senselessness to hire me.” He lets out something that sounds like a hoarse chuckle and a growl.

“It was pretty crazy,” I admit, squirming. “But..., I still think that what that lady said about my future is true...”

“Cut it out.” He clasps my face in his big, callus hands. “I don’t want to hear it. Nothing will ever happen to you, not as long as I walk this earth.”

Shuddering, I push him away, turn my back to him and cross my arms. “You can’t guarantee that,” I say with a frown. I glance over my shoulder, noticing that there’s a vexed look in his eyes. Did I just hurt him? “I’m just telling you how I feel.”
