Her eyes widened. “What’s next?”

“Bash and Damian are going to confront Fitzy. They’ll handle it.”

“Good.” She pressed her lips to mine. “My grandfather deserves to die.”

“Do you know what this means?” I brushed my lips against hers and smiled. “We’re free.”

“I’m free,” she sighed. “Finally.”

I raised her hand to my mouth, took Rhys’s ring off her finger, and chucked it across the room. “Marry me, Grace. I love you. You’re the only woman I have ever and will ever love. So marry me.”

She gasped. “Are you serious?”

I nodded. “I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”

I reached into my pocket and pulled out my mother’s engagement ring. Since her death, I had kept it with me just in case this worked in my favor.

She stared at the massive princess-cut diamond, her eyes as wide as her mouth. “I love you, too, Cole.” She giggled. “I can’t believe I’m saying this on my wedding day, but yes, I will marry you.”

I slid the rock onto her finger and kissed her again. “I hope you’re okay with being on the run for a while. We will have a target on our backs until we get rid of your grandfather.”

“I don’t care,” she said, tears streaming down her cheeks. “As long as I’m with you.”

ChapterFifty-Four

GRACE

After I accepted Cole’s proposal, we enlisted the help of Bastian and The Devil’s Knights to sneak off my grandfather’s property. And once we were on the road, I called my father. He gave me an address and said he would be waiting for us.

I knocked on the front door of a brick Colonial with blue shutters. My palm was sweaty, and Cole rubbed it down the side of his pants when he noticed.

A moment later, my father appeared in the entryway with a smile. He wore a black suit, a crisp white shirt, and a red tie. Unlike me, he had dark hair and eyes.

“Kisa.” He wrapped his arms around me, lifting my feet off the ground. “I’m so glad you’re here.” He put me down and held me at arm’s length to study my face. “You have no idea how much I missed you.”

He shook Cole’s hand, then ushered us inside the house, steering us down the hallway and into the living room.

“I’d like you to meet Vera, my girlfriend.”

I followed his gaze to the beautiful blonde woman perched on the couch with a glass tipped to her lips. She was maybe in her early thirties, much younger than my dad.

She put the glass on the coffee table and approached me with a closed-mouth smile. A red sundress swayed as she moved her narrow hips, brushing her slender legs.

“Katarina,” she said with a thick Russian accent. “Your father has told me so much about you.” She pulled me into a hug, her flowery perfume filling my nostrils. “It’s so nice to meet you.”

Katarina was the name he had given me. So I didn’t mind. Grace and Katarina were the same, but they had led different lives.

“This is Cole.” I clutched his arm and nodded at my sexy hunk of a man. “My fiancé.” I held up the ring he’d given me before he threw Rhys’s diamond across the movie theater.

“You’re engaged?” My father raised an eyebrow at me. “At least this time, I hope you’ll let me walk you down the aisle.”

I smiled. “I would like that.”

Cole held out his hand, and Vera hugged him, too. She was surprisingly warm and cuddly. I didn’t grow up with hugs and random displays of affection, but my dad showed me plenty of love and support. Regardless of paternity, John Hale was still my dad.

Now, I had two of them.

I sat on the couch beside Cole, with my dad and Vera across from us. He drank scotch and offered one to Cole. I sipped from a water bottle and snacked on cookies from the tray in front of me. Vera was a damn good cook and laid out a delicious spread for us.
