When she couldn’t take it anymore, she cupped his head and thrust her hips to add to the friction.

He chuckled and then sucked on her clit. Her hips bucked at the sensation. His teeth grazed her, then he sucked again before his tongue took over the task of applying friction. She closed her eyes and shuddered as her body took a slow ride over the precipice and she was rocked by wave after wave of orgasm, prolonged by the pressure of his tongue.

His mouth left her, and she kept her eyes closed, enjoying the afterglow. The sound of a wrapper being torn dragged her eyes open, and she smiled at the sight of him rolling on a condom. She spread her legs wider, shifting on the couch to make room for his hips to fit between her thighs, and then he filled her, thrusting deep. The feel of him inside so soon after orgasm revived the pleasure before it had a chance to fade completely.

He thrust in a slow, measured rhythm. No hurry to reach a finish line for a race that they’d each already won. The pleasure in this was more in the slip and slide of bodies and skin-to-skin contact and kisses. She could do this with him for hours.

But then his thumb brushed her clit again, and her wants and needs changed. She clenched tight on him, causing him to groan.

She cupped his butt and rocked her hips, and his tempo increased, and then they were both on the path for a second victory.

She came moments before he did.

They were both drenched in sweat by the time they were done, his body pressed to hers, but he kept his weight on his right arm, which lay along her side on the couch. He kissed her softly, then slid from her body, and she turned to make room for him to lie beside her.

He kissed her nose. “One minute. I need to get rid of the condom.”

He left for the bathroom, then was back at her side. She was glad the couch was extra deep, making plenty of room for them both to stretch out.

“I checked my phone. Dinner will be here in about ten minutes. Groceries will arrive a little after that.”

She ran a hand over his chest. “Is it wrong that I want a little longer like this? Right now, I’m pretty content.”

“Same. But we have a few minutes, at least before I need to pull on pants.”

They lay side by side, just holding each other in silence, but it didn’t take long for the happy glow to fade as reality sank in. That they were even in this strange unfamiliar house was a reminder of their situation.

Her situation.

Someone had tried to kill her this morning.

The State Department had only paused the decision on whether or not to extradite her. They could hit the Play button at any time.

Chris could pay a huge price for protecting her, and it would only get worse for him the longer this went on. How could she do that to him? All he’d ever done was save her. Protect her. Make love to her.

She was falling in love with this man, but being with her could destroy his life.

Chapter Fifty-One

It was with reluctance that Chris dressed, but even more disappointing when Diana pulled her clothes back on too.

“It’s okay with me if you eat naked.”

“Right. That’s so me.”

“Is it?” He grinned. “Excellent.”

She tossed a throw pillow at him. “No, it is not.”

“I can’t wait to learn all your quirky details.” He meant it too. He wanted to know everything about her and her life before Jordan.

“I’m not sure refusing to eat dinner naked is a quirk, when the opposite would be a kink.”

“I think I should go down on you while you eat your tiramisu. In fact, I think we should start with dessert.”

Fully dressed and wearing her walking boot again, she rose from the couch to stand before him. She pulled his head down for a deep kiss, then said against his lips, “I’ve already had my dessert and so have you.”

He chuckled. “But I want seconds.”
