There was only one tiny problem with that plan. I might not be the only one punished for my crime.

Sierra didn’t stir as I slid my hand to her stomach, my fingers splaying over her abdomen. There was about a one in four chance I’d knocked her up.

She hadn’t seemed too upset when she’d pointed out that we hadn’t used a condom. Of course not—Sierra wanted kids. Maybe she wasn’t ready for them right this minute, but I knew finding out she was pregnant would be a source of joy for her. She didn’t know that Nephilim had been forbidden ages ago. They were too powerful and didn’t fit in the natural order of things.

If Sierra was pregnant, there was no way we’d be allowed to keep the baby.

My thumb made slow circles over her stomach. “I’ll protect you with my last breath,” I whispered into the dark of the bedroom. “Even if I have to make a deal with the Devil or splatter the floors of Heaven with blood. I’ll do anything.”

* * *

“What are you making?”I wrapped my arms around Sierra’s waist from behind, bending down to kiss her bare shoulder. She was wearing my T-shirt and the neckline hung off one shoulder, giving me easy access to her soft, creamy skin.

“Pancakes.” She slid the spatula under one of the cakes and flipped it over. “You want some?”

“Yes, please. Do you want me to do anything?”

She glanced over her shoulder at me. “Stand there and look pretty.”

“Very funny. Where’s your roommate?”

“Kylieis at work. She had an early shift, so she should be home midafternoon.”

I grinned. “We have plenty of time then.” I gathered her wine-red waves in my hand and pressed a kiss to the back of her neck. She tilted her head to allow me better access, and I hummed my approval against her skin.

Surrendering to our desires felt really fucking wonderful. It was like a tremendous weight had been lifted off my shoulders, like shackles falling away. She wasmine. And I would find a way to keep her. No matter what I had to give up or how many sins I had to commit. She was worth all of it.

Sierra wiggled her ass against my groin, and I groaned into her neck. Fuck, I needed her. Last night already felt like years ago. “Baby girl, if you keep doing that, we won’t make it through breakfast.”

She looked over her shoulder at me and sucked her lip between her teeth.

“You are so incredibly sexy when you bite your lip.” She’d been torturing me with that sight since the day I met her. The thing was, I knew she wasn’t trying to be seductive. And somehow that made it even hotter. Everything she did made my body react, made me want her. And she didn’t have to try.

She released her lip slowly, her eyes wide. “We’re really doing this then?” she whispered. “You’re not going to change your mind or say it was all a mistake?”

It might have been a mistake, the most pleasurable one I’d ever made, but there was no point in saying that now. The damage was done. And besides, I knew I’d never be able to resist her again, not after I’d had a taste.

I ran my fingers along the collar of her shirt, unable to keep my hands off her skin. “You’re never getting rid of me now, Sierra. I refuse to be parted from you no matter what I have to do. I’ll always find you, come back to you. I promise.”

She sucked in an unsteady breath. “What happens when it’s not your job to protect me anymore?”

“We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.” I cupped her cheeks between my palms. “All I know is that I’m not leaving you.Ever.”

Her lips turned up in a tiny smile, and my heart stuttered in my chest. Fuck, she was beautiful.

A timer dinged on the stove, and she slipped out of my grasp.

I watched her reach for a platter on the top shelf of the cabinet above the sink, her top riding up and exposing her lower back as she stretched. I could have gotten the plate easily, but I was enjoying the view too much to offer. She was wearing a pair of black leggings that left nothing to the imagination. Was she even wearing panties?

I bit back a groan as my body reacted to that thought, my hard cock straining against my pants.

It was going to be a long breakfast.

Sierra had just gotten the plate down when there was a knock on the back door.

“You want to take the pancakes off while I get that?” She pushed the plate into my hands and headed for the living room.

I felt it a second before Sierra opened the door. Pure power radiated from the other side of it. It wasn’t the demonic power I’d grown accustomed to feeling every few days when Dantalion sent more grunts after Sierra. This was much stronger and also subtler. I hadn’t felt it until I’d heard the knock and bothered to pay attention.
