Let the flames roar.

Twenty minutes later, I slow to a stop a block away from the house. If they’re smart, security guards will be combing the property. The last thing I want to do is scream that I’m ready to launch bloody fucking mayhem, and my cherry red ’62 Ferrari GTO would be the messenger.

The house is set back from the quiet, palm tree-lined road in a private community in Bal Harbour. No nosy neighbors anywhere close enough to raise hell about the torture I’m about to unleash.

I quickly jog through some bushes one yard over, pulling out my gun. Dropping down to a squatted position, I creep quietly around to take an inventory of guys I’m gonna have to kill. But a quick look left and right confirms there’s nobody roaming the property. I check every inch of the front and back yards before inching over a paved path that leads toward the deep blue infinity pool.

Is this even the right place?

I pull out my phone and dial Luka’s number. He answers on the first ring.

“Are you fucking with me right now? There’s no security here. Did you give me the wrong address?”

“How the hell is that possible? Are those guys really that stupid?”

“No cars out front either.” I narrow my eyes, doing another sweep over the property. “And the place is completely dark from what I can see out here. You think someone leaked the attack? Did they change locations?”

“I’ll call Alek to confirm.” Luka pauses. “Maybe it’s for the best.”

I shoot up from the chair like my ass just got singed. “You fucking set me up, didn’t you? You let me come here for nothing, you asshole.”

“Remember who you’re talking to. And don’t get your dick in a twist. Nobody set you up, even though going in there alone was a stupid—”

“Wait.” I take a few steps toward the windowed wall facing the pool. A thin stream of moonlight shines through the clear glass. A faint shadow catches my gaze, and then another beam of light hits the floor, moving alongside the shadow.

“There’s someone inside.” I move closer still. “I’ve gotta go. I’ll call you when it’s done.”

I click to end the call before Luka can say another word. The shadow continues to move, and based on the brightness of the light, I can tell the person holding it is getting closer.

One security guard?

Idiots. What kind of fucking mafia family is this?

“I’ve got you now, fucker,” I mutter.

The beam shines bright along the floor, making it easy for me to track his movement. I quickly jog over to the sliding glass door and slip inside while he dicks around by the darkened living room.

A heavy spray of water from upstairs tells me someone is in the shower. I guess the bathroom door must be closed, or else I’d have seen a light.

Larysa.

I’ve seen her picture. Dark hair, deep violet eyes. A sultry smile that can make any breathing man hard in a hot second.

But whenever her face flashes in my mind, my mother’s pale, lifeless one slides right in its place.

And tonight, that smile is gonna be wiped right off her gorgeous face.

The flashlight illuminates another room as the short, stout figure makes his way around the bottom floor. I slide around the wall outside the office while he investigates what’s in the office.

Rage bubbles under my skin, sparks of anger shooting out to my fingertips. They itch to tear his fucking skin from his bones.

Anyone who gets in the way of my mission is as good as dead.

And as for my target?

She’s gonna wish she never came home from that concert tonight.

A gust of cold air blasts my skin as I pass under a ceiling vent. But there’s so much heat flooding my insides that I barely notice a chill. My ears perk up. Footsteps move toward the door of the office, approaching cautiously.
