Shower. I need a shower. A freezing, cold shower.

My pulse hammers against my throat. With a few deep breaths, I manage to dart out of the room before my legs give out like the limp noodles they’ve become.

I make a mad dash for the bathroom and push open the door. Once it’s closed, I flip around and collapse against it.

Who the fuckisthat guy?

Looks like Danil. Has the same chiseled body, the same lickable abs and bitable ass.

But the smile? Where the fuck did that come from? The cutesy voice?

A lump lodges in my throat, heart thumping wildly.

There is a glimmer of humanity deep within the black cloak of darkness surrounding him. I clench and unclench my hands. It’s evidently reserved for his daughter, so at least she’ll benefit.

Me, on the other hand? Looks like I’ll have to suffer with his beastly side for as long as he—

Wait. Fuck that.

I interrupt the thought before it can get air time.

I am not doing this for another goddamn second. He doesn’t want me as a character in his fucked-up story? Then I’m writing myself the fuck out.

The metal door handle is cool against my palm. I twist it and pull it toward me, fury percolating in every recess of my body. “He doesn’t make the fucking rules.”

A choked cry slips from my mouth. I jump backward when his dark and smoldering eyes meet mine.

“Is that what you think?” His lips twist and he pushes the door farther open, forcing himself into the bathroom.

“That’s what I know.” I use all of my might to push against his hulking body when he steps in front of me. “You are a despicable excuse for a human being. You don’t deserve good things. You definitely don’t deserve Daniela. And I am finished with you and this bullshit game you’re playing. I won’t be used. I’m leaving.”

I use my shoulder to shove him aside but end up jamming it against a rock wall of hard chest muscle instead. Pain shoots down my arm. “You sonofabitch. Get out of my way.”

He closes one hand around my throat and shoves me backward against the wall nearest the stone shower. “You don’t get to give the orders here.” His low growl hums against my skin, melting every cell with the heat radiating from his hand.

I dig my nails into his flesh. “You think bullying me is going to work? I’d rather take my chances with my enemies than stay here with you.” I choke out the words, his fingers wrapping tighter with each passing second.

“You don’t have that choice. You’re mine. I thought I made that clear.”

“I’m not your possession.”

Deep, dark pools swirl recklessly like a hurricane in the middle of the ocean. Gold flecks of ire spark, crackling in the space between us. “You are whatever I want you to be. And right now, you’re my leverage.”

I grit my teeth, my eyes watering from the pressure building behind them. “Let go.”

“Give up.” He smirks. “Do it. Take yourself out of this misery if you’re so desperate to leave.”

“Fuck you.” I scratch the top of his hand, trying like hell to break skin. “Never.”

“Why?”

He releases his hold on me and I hunch over, gulping down air. Then I fall to my knees, placing one steadying hand on the tile for balance. “I would never do that to my daughter, leave her with a complete monster.”

“Sheispart monster.”

“And I love her in spite of that.” Swallowing hurts like hell. I finally stagger to my feet and catch my reflection in the wall mirror. Angry red finger marks brand my neck. “Look at what you did, you sicko.”

“Do you want me to tell you how you really feel about that? All it would take is one sweep of my fingers.”
