Page 32 of Keep Her Safe

“Damian,” she whispers.

“Yes, Miss Eastwood?” I say as I slip her panties into my pocket after one final inhale.

“I cannot wait to fuck you.”

I’m relieved that there isn’t anyone lingering outside of the bathroom when she leaves because I’m only a few steps behind her. I watch as she makes her way over to Paxton, touches his arm, pulling him away from the crowd, and whispers something in his ear. My hand grips the panties that are in my pocket, still fingering the crotch of them as I try to recall the scent. God, she smelled so sweet. The mixture of her perfume and that sexy earthy scent is making me wild.Reckless.It’s making me want to walk over to where she’s standing with Paxton and tell him she doesn’t owe him any explanations. That they’re finished and that I planned to spend the rest of the night reminding her what orgasms—yes, plural—feel like.

I can tell he’s annoyed, his stance is combative, his arms are crossed over his chest, and his eyes are slightly narrowed. We’ve only been here about an hour and a half, but my guess is she’s talked to everyone that she’s needed to and she wants to leave them wanting more. I’m sure he’s pissed that she’s not only leaving early but that he’s not invited to leave with her.

I see him guiding her somewhere assumedly so they can be alone and I follow so that she’s not out of my sight. I don’t think Paxton would ever manhandle her, but she’s also trying to end their relationship much to his disappointment, so I can’t be sure. I’m only about twenty feet from them, my back turned to try to give them some privacy when all I want to do is stand behind her and dare him to touch her.

It isn’t until I hear her call my name that I turn around to see that he has her against the wall, with his hand wrapped around her wrist. She doesn’t seem like she’s in pain, but for her to call for me, I know that means she doesn’t want to be in this situation anymore. I’m next to her in an instant, putting myself between him and her forcing Paxton to release her wrist and stare him down.

“What’s going on?” He furrows his brow and begins to speak when I cut him off, raising a hand. “Not you.” I turn my head to the side enough to see her hand resting on her hip. “Eastwood,” I grunt. I use her last name from time to time, and right now I’m trying to remain as professional as I can. Using her last name is keeping me from showing this asshole how I feel about him putting his hands on the woman that—somewhat—belongs to me.

“He’s throwing a tantrum because I’m leaving and don’t want to go on his bullshit fake vacation.”

“It’s not fake,” Paxton counters.

“It’s fake in the sense that you want to do it for pictures. I’m over it. I don’t want to be with you.” She stomps. “If we have to fake it for a few months at things like this, for work,” she stresses, “fine, but if you think I’m going to fake it beyond what is absolutely necessary, you’re crazy.”

“Why was your hand on her?” I ask him.

“I didn’t hurt her,” he says instantly.

I’m about to respond that it doesn’t answer my question when she interjects.

“No, but I told you to let go and you didn’t.”

I glower at him. “Is that true?” I suddenly want to break his hand for thinking that she owed him anything.

“Because she wasn’t listening!”

“Listening to what?” Shay exclaims. “You fucked up, Paxton! It’s over. There’s nothing you can say to make this right. There are a million girls out there, probably that you’ve already fucked that will gladly take my place. Go find one of them.”

He runs a hand through his hair and lets out a sigh of exasperation. “I don’t want one of them. I want you.”

I can tell he’s getting irritated with the fact that I’m still standing between them and he’s having to speak around me.

“Would have been great if you felt that way before you cheated on me.”

His eyes snap to mine angrily like I’m the reason this conversation isn’t going the way he wants it to. “I still don’t understand why you’re here. She’s not in any danger. She’s safe with me, Hunt. Can’t you back off?” I want to respond that based on his actions she is definitely not safe with him, but I refrain as the sound of a camera taking a picture cuts through the tension and my eyes flit to the source of the noise to see someone scurrying around the corner.

“See, you’re causing a scene,” Paxton groans.

“ME!?” Shay exclaims. “You couldn’t just let me go.”

“Great, now who knows what’s going to come out. Shay, you’re fucking unbelievable, you know that? Us staying together benefits you too.” He glares at her and I take a step closer to him, forcing him to take a step back.

“Watch your language,” I warn him, and it’s one I hope he heeds because I don’t give more than one.

He groans, knowing he’s not going to get anywhere. “This is fucking ridiculous. Your PR team said you were on board.”

Shay moves from behind me. “I am! There was never any talk about a vacation and I wasveryclear last night with you about what I wouldn’t tolerate. Seemsyouare not on board.” She turns to look at me. “I’m ready to leave.Now.” She walks away, moving to the main room towards the exit, and I follow closely behind her. She stops to talk to a few people and I keep walking towards the exit as I send a message to the driver to have the limo brought around.

After she says her goodbyes, we leave the party in silence as we make our way to the limo. The tension crackles between us and my dick hardens with every passing second at the thought of what’s to come. I want my hands on her so badly I know there’s no way I can wait until we get back to her house.

“I got it.” I nod at the driver before we get to the door and he makes his way to the driver’s seat. I look down at her before I open the door and do a quick scan of who is around, how close they are, and if they’ll be able to hear what I say before I lean down close to her face. “I’m not letting you out of this limo until you come.”
