She smirked at him. It was the same look she had given him that same morning, initiating a romp of gentle lovemaking.

“And why is that?”

“Because that’s what you do for me,” he said, tilting his head, completely smitten. “You empower me to be the best man, the best alpha, the best lover. Everything. All of this is because of you.”

He swept his hand over the windshield before them, the vivid fields sparkling with brilliant potential. Becca looked over at it, then tears washed down her cheeks.

“Oh no, I didn’t mean …”

Becca touched his lips with a single finger. The world around them stopped, their own vivacious paradise awaiting. Her gray eyes glittered like an ocean at dawn. Noah grinned beneath her touch, knowing everything without needing to say anything at all.

“You are exquisite, my love,” Becca murmured, sniffing away tears. “Where in God's name did you come from?”

Noah swooned for the angel sitting before him. He kissed her fingers, her salted tears, her forehead, then her lips. He would do anything to dash away her fears until the end of his life.

“I don’t know, but I’m here with you now,” he exhaled.

They kissed softly, narrowly avoiding another magical lovemaking session for the sake of time. They had the rest of their lives to build onto the structure of their unique intimacy.

They walked hand in hand from the truck over the length of the property, making blueprints in their minds, discussing cost effectiveness, and exploring the creative recesses of their minds. Noah was just as in love with Becca’s imaginative spirit. It made him believe in things he never thought possible.

“I’m thinking we can build a community center of sorts right here,” Becca said, parting from Noah for a moment to stand at the center of her vision. “A place where they can get their homework done, play games, and socialize. I feel like they are going to need it after all this moving around. It’s unstable.”

Noah nodded with approval. Becca dove deep into the fantasy of the construction, crossing her arms and walking along the thin grass, making a note of the length and width that would be required for such a venture. Noah stuck his hands in his pockets, watching and amazed.

“I can’t believe he dragged them around like that,” Becca mused. “If he wanted revenge so badly, why not just leave everyone to their own devices? Why drag them into his own mess?”

Noah knew her question was rhetorical, but he shook his head in response anyway, following her along the line of her reverie.

“It’s a power thing. Some alphas lose themselves in it, while others thrive. You can either hang yourself with the rope you’re handed or help someone out of the mud.”

Becca flashed a playful smirk at him, her auburn hair winking like a cardinal’s wing red.

“Did you just come up with that right now?”

He narrowed his eyes on her.

“Maybe I did. Maybe I didn’t. Who knows? Don’t you dare question your Alpha.”

Becca snorted, then ran in his direction. She mashed into his chest with humor as Noah feigned self-defense.

“Oh, so that’s how it is?” she exclaimed.

“Someone is snarky today.” Noah laughed gleefully.

They chased each other around the property, Noah staying in his human form, laughing until their bellies ached. Eventually, they fell into each other’s arms and tumbled to the ground. Noah’s head was stuck in a semi-headlock and pinned to Becca’s breasts.

“Do you yield?” she whispered into his ear.

Noah tapped a flimsy hand upon her arm. She gave his ear a slobbery lick before letting him go.

“You’re lucky I like that,” he quipped.

He rested on her breasts, soft as pillows, and stared up into the crisp blue sky.

It was a warm day for late autumn, but neither complained. Becca played with his hair as they dreamed big dreams in silence.

“Noah,” Becca breathed.
