“I’ll have to see if he can get the time off. They’ve been getting busier and busier lately, which is great for them. I’m glad they’re already such a success, but I wish his schedule was more open.”

“Maybe they’ll hire someone else to help soon,” Aria suggests.

“Maybe. I hope so. I know that Anson is going to be taking some time off once Lottie has the baby, or at least cutting back on his hours,” Quinn says.

I feel at ease with these women, and I realize it’s been a while since I felt like I had a friend. All of my other friends were models, and I rarely saw them outside of photoshoots or runway shows.

Even then, they were all models, and I was a plus-size model, so I never really fit in. I know that they all looked down on me, treating me like a novelty or like their funny fat friend who was used to make them look better. I could see myself being friends, actual friends, with Lottie, Quinn, and Aria.

Our food is dropped off, and I relax even more as we all dig in.

I think that moving to Los Angeles just might be the best thing I’ve ever done in my life.

I can’t wait to see what Gates has to say tonight. I have a good feeling about it.

“You finally did it.I can tell,” Kye says as soon as he pulls up behind Anson and Rhett’s car and we head over to their car to get debriefed.

“Did what?” I ask as we open the back door of their SUV.

“You told Dillon that you loved her. You’re smiling. Hell, you’re practically glowing.”

“I am not,” I deny as I climb into the backseat.

“You kind of are,” Rhett says as he turns around to face me.

“Don’t encourage him.”

“Glad you guys got here. The client is inside her house now. We instructed her to lock all the doors and she should be in for the rest of the day. She said that she bought groceries and ran errands yesterday.”

“Cool,” Kye says, looking around the neighborhood.

We’re parked on a side street. Our client, Sarah, lives on the corner lot, which isn’t great for us. It means that there’s a lot of area to cover and watch. If her ex-husband does show up, it could be from any angle.

“The cameras are working good,” Anson says, passing us the iPad with all the feeds on it.

“Thanks. We’ll see you tonight?” Kye asks.

“Yeah, at eight,” Rhett confirms.

“We’ll see you guys then.”

I climb out and head back to Kye’s car. I slide into the passenger seat and set up the iPad so that we can see it clearly.

“So, admit it,” Kye says as he joins me.

Rhett and Anson make a U-turn and wave as they head home.

“I didn’t talk to Dillon yet. I was going to, but then when I got home, things kind of went a different way.”

Kye seems to pick up on what I’m saying without me having to spell it out.

“So, tell her tonight. You can get dinner and flowers or something and finally admit that she’s all you’ve ever wanted.”

That’s not a bad idea.
