Jay chuckles as he snags my wrist, then laces our fingers. “Nah, they’re mine.”

ANOTHER LOVE BY TOM ODELL
Jay
“Ican’t believe you bought a sex club.” Cat’s curled up on the couch in my new office, with her feet under her thighs and a carton of chicken and broccoli in her hand.
“Three,” I say with a smirk, then take a bite of my sesame chicken.
“Three?” She shoves her chopsticks into the container and gapes.
“Didn’t know which one you’d go to, so I bought the ones that are close to our office.”
She rolls her eyes. “And how did you know I’d come to this one tonight?”
Cocking a brow, I give her a knowing look. “I took a calculated risk, I guess.”
“Just assumed I’d go back to the place you and I first went?”
I laugh. “You did, didn’t you?”
She groans. “You’re annoying.”
“You’re adorable.”
She blows out a breath and looks away. “So, you going to sell this place now?”
I take one more bite, then set the food on the small table beside me and take a sip of water. “Actually, I think I’ll keep it.”
Her loud laugh fills the space, and everything inside my body feels lighter. “Why?”
“You don’t like it here? You seemed to be enjoying yourself when I found you,” I tease.
She ducks her head and blows out a breath. “I’m not normally like this.” She motions toward me. “You have me acting like a crazy person, calling Frank to service me at work, coming to a sex club…letting you touch me again.”
A groan rumbles through my chest at the mention of Frank. He’s the last thing I want to talk about right now.
I run my tongue against my teeth, trying to regain control. “You can hardly blame me for the way you’re acting. If I remember correctly, the first time I came into your office, Frank was thereservicing you, as you put it.”
She grunts. “Yeah, that wasn’t my finest moment.” With a shake of her head, she pulls her shoulders back. “I just don’t know what you want from me.”
You.
But she’s not ready for that yet.
“Like I said, I just wanted to have a meal with you. That’s all.” I pick up my take-out container and point to her food with my chopsticks.
It’s after eleven p.m. Neither of us needed dinner, but I want the hour she promised.
She smiles and takes another bite. “You bought a sex club so you could have dinner with me?” she teases.
“Oh Kitten,” I say with a sigh, “you have no idea the things I’ve done and would do for just a moment of your time.”
She tips her face to the ceiling and blows out a breath. “I don’t understand you. You’re the one who walked away. Why are you rewriting history?”
I set down my food again and drop my elbows to my knees, giving her my full attention. “I’m happy to clear everything up, but I don’t think you’re ready. Or are you? We can talk about what went wrong thirteen years ago if you want. I’m happy to discuss.”
