Why is this getting me so aroused? Relax, man, you’ve been using your hand for too long and miss your man. Get going!

Enthralled, I can’t move, but they do. Oh, so slightly... yet the better view makes my eyes widen. I swallow audibly and shake uncontrollably, feeling like I’ve been slapped in the face. That’s the moment my eyes connect with the other guy’s.

Mine shoot daggers. His widen as reality strikes; they’re sheepish now.

“Ash?” My choked murmur echoes inside my head at the incongruity of the situation.

What were the odds? What did I walk in on? What is wrong with people?

Ash’s eyes never leave mine. I watch him wiggle to escape the dark-haired man’s forceful embrace.

Too late.

My man is kissing another. I was gone for six days. Betrayal. Disbelief. Hurt.

What the actual fuck?

Six days! What the hell happened in the meantime?

“Who told you to move?” The question is delivered in a casual yet indisputable tone. That’s when the other guy finally notices Ash’s horrified expression. Following Ash’s eyes, he slowly tilts his head my way and barks, “What’s your problem? Can’t handle guys making out, bigot?” His stupidity. His smugness. His cluelessness.

At once, his scowl gives way to an amused and conceited smirk that contorts his square jaw. If it weren’t for his expression or the way that he’s claiming Ash, the stranger would be attractive, in a young Benjamin Bratt kind of way.

His chest puffs as he lets out a low chuckle. “You’rehim, aren’t you?” I narrow my gaze.

My mind goes a mile a minute while my windpipe goes on strike.

I have no words, but his cut deep. “Ashton’srebound.” My lower lip trembles as my neck stiffens. That word! “Tough luck, your time’s up! You left yourbelongingsunattended… and even then, itwas never yours to begin with. You see, he’s always belongedtome, Captain Obvious.” His laughter grows louder as he stresses words that make my blood boil: one of Ash’s least favorite expressions.

Everything about this guy has me seeing red. Everything about this guy makes my hair stand on end. Everything about this guy rubs me the wrong way.

Who the hell does he think he is?

I’m so rattled that I can’t think straight.

Stuck beneath the guy, Ash reads my mind and begs, “Please, Silas, don’t!”

Fuck, what?

Silas! How could I forget the man who haunted Ash’s nightmares? His first.

What the fuck’s going on? What’s this guy doing here, claiming Ash as if he were histhing?Ash couldn’t have told him that I was a rebound, right? But then how would Silas know about me if not from Ash’s mouth.

Before I can stop myself, my fist connects with Silas’s stubbled jaw.

The punch slams his solid body against the brick wall. The stranger’s head swivels in Ash’s direction, pinning him with his stare while he rubs the spot where I hit him.

Damn, my man looks like a deer caught in the headlights.

“Where do you think you’re going, dog?” Ash stops in his tracks instead of protesting and looks anywhere but at me. Ash submits to the guy.

Dog? Seriously?

I can’t wrap my head around this. Whoever he is, he succeeded in silencing Ash.

I’ve seen enough. More than enough.

What the hell was I thinking?
