ChapterForty-Six

HARLEIGH

They’d just fuckedme three ways from Sunday, literally, and I let them.

Fuck all the haters.

I knew who I was and where I belonged, which was more than most could say.

You only get one life, so I wanted to make sure I lived it to the fullest, with no regrets.

I stayed still and listened to the heavy, rhythmic breathing of all three of them until they eventually fell asleep, exhausted.

And only a moment later, I was dressed and out the door.

When I got downstairs, the bar was silent and the only sound was the creak of my shoes as I walked into the office. I slowly went to the back of the room, my steps echoing off the walls, and carefully grabbed one of the books from the shelf. I slid open the Bio-scan panel, feeling the smooth surface beneath my hand, while simultaneously feeling a book slide forward as I pulled it from the bookshelf to the left.

The security for the room was restricted to just our family and Liam, who held the special key.

We added to the panic room below, creating an armoury with an array of weapons. This panic room was distinct in that it had one way in, but two ways out, allowing for a quick escape. If we were in the panic room and needed to escape the building, we could feel our way through the dark walls to an exit.

I was going for the knives and a couple of guns. We moved our weapons back into the clubhouse quickly after the search warrant had been served. To prepare for the lockdown, I had moved the majority of my weapons stash to this room, just to be safe if any of the children went into my room. I was worried that one of the mischievous little hellions might lose a thumb or a finger.

The walls of the armoury were lined with a variety of guns of all shapes and sizes, creating a formidable sight. The room was filled with a soothing, comforting energy that offered a sense of security. Beneath the guns were drawers of knives and sharp implements. The bullets were all kept in another locked cabinet in the back of the room. We were constantly collecting new and sometimes even more advanced artillery. It helped that we dedicated a large portion of Reapers business to arms dealing.

The Crows had sealed their fate, but I doubted they realized it yet. After everything I had been through over the last year, I had earned what I was planning to do. For the past year, Dirk had been determined to get revenge on me, and my family had been caught in the crossfire. Now that he was out of the equation, I could start pursuing the people higher on the hierarchy.

It was either this, or they would just keep coming after me, and with extension, the club.

I drove my Harley down a back alley and parked it, feeling the rumble of the engine beneath my feet. Even though it was far from ideal, I wanted the element of surprise, so I could silently creep up on them. It was two in the morning, so most of them would be neck deep in alcohol or balls deep in pussy.

Either way, they would go out with a bang.

I’d felt my phone buzz in my pocket when I was a couple of blocks from the Crows’ clubhouse, so I wanted to check it before I went in search of retribution. My fingers grazed the phone in my pocket before I pulled it out to observe the reflection of the screen. My guess would have been one of three men. The same men I left passed out in my room, thinking they’d be down for the count.

I should have worn them out a bit more before I left.

Dimitri:

WTF?

Me:

Huh?

Dimitri:

You know what.

Think about it for a moment.

Me:

I have thought about it, and I’m doing this. You’re not going to stop me.

Dimitri:

I never said I wanted to stop you. We just don’t want you to go alone.
