“Having a baby doesn’t scare me. I just didn’t want to be saddled with a woman I didn’t love because she was having my kid.”
“Especially if it wasn’t yours,” she mumbled under her breath.
“Are you trying to ask me if I’ll stop wanting you if one of those assholes knock you up?”
“No.”
“We’ve already talked, and it doesn’t matter.”
“What do you mean, you’ve already talked?” she sat up, taking the blankets with her. “The three of you have discussed me being barefoot in the kitchen and pregnant?”
“Not so much barefoot. We don’t want to take your choices away, but yes, we discussed the future.”
“You discussed getting me pregnant, and left me out of it?” Her voice raised at the end.
Her anger was palpable. At the time, discussing our plans for her return was the only way to keep our sanity while she was away. We sought out any activity to occupy our minds and take away the pain of her absence.
The door swung open, and Dimitri entered.
“What’s all the yelling about?” he asked. “I can hear you down the hall.”
“You guys talked about knocking me up?” she turned her anger toward him.
Dimitri groaned. “Why did you tell her about that?”
“We were talking.”
“How much did you decide on my life?” she asked again.
“You mean you never want kids?” Dimitri asked.
“I didn’t say that.”
“Then what’s the big deal?”
“I don’t like being left out of conversations that directly impact me.”
“We weren’t making decisions,” Dimitri assured me. “None of us have ever dated the same woman. There were some scenarios we had to hash out.”
“Like babies?”
Dimitri grinned. “Like babies.”
“And what did you assholes decide without me?”
“If we ever got you pregnant, it wouldn’t matter because you’re the mom.”
She got quiet.
“What’s going on in that brain of yours?” I asked.
Hellcat was probably plotting our early demise.
“Nothing,” she responded with devilment in her eyes.
Either that or we were going to wake up with our dicks superglued to our stomachs.
