Pickman & Pickman is located pretty close to my new apartment downtown, which I find very beneficial on my part. Searching for their number online, I was able to find their website, and I went straight to their realtor list. There is my Angel staring back at me with those emerald eyes. This is going to be too fun.

Dialing their number, I’m greeted with a young soft voice. “Thank you for calling Pickman & Pickman Real Estate, this is Lindsey. How can I help you?”

Smiling into the phone, I lay on my charm. “Hi, Lindsey. My name is Mr. Chambers, and I was wondering if you could kindly pass me along to Aria Lewis. I have come across her profile, and I feel she would be a great fit for me to work with.”

She practically moans through the phone. If I have to guess, she is twenty-one and most likely fucking some higher up. “Oh, of course, Mr. Chambers. I will connect you to Jordan. He is Ms. Lewis’s assistant.”

I thank her and wait for thisJordanto answer. I start to have these images running through my head of her assistant sleeping with her and trying to make her come. My hand is wrapped around the phone so tightly that my knuckles turn white. I am about to chuck my phone until I am greeted with a voice I didn’t have in my mind. No, his voice is very feminine.

“This is Jordan, Aria Lewis’s assistant. How may I help you?”

Smirking into the phone, I make sure my charm with Jordan is upped a few notches. “Hi, Jordan. This is Mr. Chambers, and I was hoping I could make an appointment with Aria soon.” I pause for a second, setting my plan in motion. “Looking at her profile, she seems to be theperfect fitfor me to work with as I am new to the city.”

Jordan squeaks at my voice but recovers quickly. “Hello, Mr. Chambers. Thank you for reaching out to Pickman & Pickman. Aria is one of our newest realtors, but let me just say, she is probably the hardest working one here! Looking at her schedule, she has an opening this Thursday at ten in the morning. Does that work for you?”

Yes. Yes, it does, Jordan, and in more ways than one.

“Yes, that is great,” I reply.

“Great. I just need to ask a few questions on what you are looking for, so that Aria has some time to look over your profile.” I hear him clicking away on the other end. “Okay, let’s start with, what kind of a business or space are you looking for?”

“I’m looking to open up a new tattoo shop here in Seattle, but I am sure Aria will have some great ideas for what I am looking for.” Oh, she will when she sees that I’m her meeting.

“I am sure she can as well. What is the budget you are looking to stay with?” He asks me.

“No budget,” I say flatly. I am annoyed with the questions. “I would rather talk with her in person about what I am needing.”

He sounds frazzled. “That is fine. And I have you in for Thursday at ten in the morning. Have a great afternoon, Mr. Chambers.”

“You too, Jordan.” I keep my tone even to keep my excitement under wraps.

She is not going to see this coming at all since she does not know my last name, and this way, I will be able to catch her off guard. I don’t want her knowing that I am in Seattle, where she has the chance to run off again. I have no idea if she even knows that we are married. I’m not letting go just yet. No, she belongs to me and only me. This plan of mine has taken six months to get in order and I did not marry her for the sake of doing it. No, I did it because I wanted to. I am not one to make rash decisions at this point in my life anymore as I do not have time to waste. Life is too fucking short as I have witnessed too many damn times in my life. I plan on making this marriage work and getting Aria to see my way.

And I always get what I want.

Aftertalkingoverthiscrazy situation, I am in with my girls. I have been doing some research on lawyers in Vegas on how to get an annulment from this marriage. Since girls night, I have been searching, calling and emailing lawyers to try to set up a video meeting rather than me flying out to Vegas. I think luck is on my side when I get a call back from one of the many I contacted.

“Hello, is this Miss Lewis?” the person asks on the other end of the phone with a firm tone.

“Hi, yes, this is she,” I respond.

“Miss Lewis, this is Harold Hunt calling from Hunt & Associates. You contacted my office in regard to an annulment.”

I close my eyes and fist pump the air. “Hi, Mr. Hunt. Thank you so much for returning my call. Yes, I am hoping you might be able to help me get an annulment from my current marriage.”

He grumbles. “We will see what we can, but first I need to know a few details.”

“Of course.”

“Can you explain how you got into this marriage? What was the name of your husband?” Mr. Hunt asks dryly.

“Yes, six months ago, I was out visiting Las Vegas with some girlfriends. I met someone that night, and I had no idea I was married until my new job performed a detailed and lengthy background check. My HR contact is the one who told me––”

“Let me take a guess, Miss Lewis. You were drunk, and you are afraid of what your place of employment will think? We see this sort of thing a lot in Las Vegas.” He chuckles.
