With a growl, Madden joined me on the bed and quickly, we were a jumble of naked limbs, him discarding his clothing and ripping my panties clean off my body in a move that left me stunned. His mouth connected with my jaw, trailing open mouthed kisses down my body and up again, teasing me to the edge, as he avoided the places, I so desperately wanted his mouth.

“Stop teasing me,” I cursed at him and he simply chuckled against my stomach.

“Only trying to make it up to you.” He responded, licking a trail from my belly button up between both breasts.

“You can make it up to me by fucking me.”

“Don’t have to ask me twice.”

Madden’s mouth finally latched onto the peak of my breast, sucking hard before giving it a bite, the pain and pleasure mingling into a heady feeling. I felt the pulse in my core as arousal wet my inner thighs, more turned on than I had ever been before.

Gripping his thick cock, Madden lined up at my entrance, turning to me quickly. “Birth control? Condom?” He heaved out, clearly straining against the urge to fuck me raw.

“IUD. And clean.” I panted, needing a release soon.

“I am too.” Madden responded and then not even seconds later, he was thrusting all the way into me, filling me up.

Gripping his shoulders, I dug my nails into his shoulders. “Harder,” I groaned and his hips shifted as he began pounding relentlessly into me, in perfect rhythm.

Reaching a hand between us, Madden began massaging my clit in time with each thrust, bringing me closer and closer to the edge. As the pleasure continued to build, I scratched against his back, needing the leverage for what he was doing to my body.

“Fuck, sweetheart, your pussy feels so good.” Madden murmured against my sweat slicked skin and his words pushed me over the edge, my vision blacking out as I my pussy squeezed tightly around his length. Seconds later, I felt Madden’s body clench as he followed, his release spilling into me.

We stayed laying there for several moments, relishing in the moment, before Madden pulled out and rolled to my side, both of us looking up at the ceiling as we breathed heavily.

“So, did I make it up to you?” Madden inquired.

Turning towards him, I lifted onto my elbow, admiring his body, from the long brown hair to the built chest, and to his still hardened dick.

“Almost. But I think you may need to make it up to me twice.”

Smiling at each other, Madden took me back into his arms, more than making up for his idiotic plan.

Chapter Thirty-Seven

Wilder

I was torturing myself. That was the only reason I had for standing outside Halley’s dorm, my enhanced hearing picking up every sound of pleasure coming from the room. At least now I knew what kind of “exercise” Madden had been up to in the woods when he had offered this brilliant plan. And now I couldn’t help but wonder if the plan had been some sort of weird foreplay for him. But no, he did seem to actually care about helping Halley’s powers grow stronger and although it ended with her yelling at both of us, itdidwork.

However, that still didn’t explain what I was doing out here. Maybe it was because of the way my gaze tracked her legs in her bedroom. Her long bare legs that I felt the urge to sink my fangs into before wrapping them around my neck and feasting on something entirely different than blood. Or maybe it was because I was curious about how the girl had gotten the grumpiest asshole on the planet to actually apologize to her.

Either way, when I heard the next moan echo throughout her bedroom, I flashed away, knowing I needed to leave. I already craved her blood more than I thought possible, I didn’t need to be craving her body too. That wasn’t me.

Running into my dorm room, I fell back on my bed, threading my fingers through my hair as I thought about everything going on. As if an Enchantress showing up out of the blue wasn’t enough for this year, now the Hunters were attacking again for the first time in decades. The last time we had really seen the Hunters was when they massacred every last of the Enchanters. And I couldn’t help but wonder if the appearance of Halley had to do with the revival of the Hunters. It wasn’t a far stretch. Especially considering that without an Enchanter, us Divines had taken to hiding. Maybe the Hunters knew that with an Enchantress under our wing we wouldn’t be so scared of the humans anymore.

As thoughts of Enchanters and Hunters bombarded me, thoughts of my dad coincided. Although the Hunters were the ones to kill him, I had always blamed the Enchanters. Their duty was to shield and heal, and yet they had failed my dad. Failedme. And what if that happened again? When someone got seriously hurt, would Halley even know what to do? Or were we all walking into a war that would end in death. Yeah, she had shown some sort of power tonight, but not enough.

Growling, I began pacing the room. It seemed no matter what I thought of, the idea always brought me back to Halley and it was slowly driving me insane. Throwing open the door to my room, I began to sprint, roaming through the endless forest the academy was tucked away into, letting the silence of the night soothe my soul.

Ever since Dad had died, I’ve had a hole in my soul, only filled with anger. And over the years, the anger had festered, affecting everything around it. And now all I felt was anger, at everyone and everything around me. No other emotions, untilsheshowed up. And now I was getting bombarded with doubt, fear, longing.

After an hour of sprinting, I was finally out of breath and I leaned against a tree, my chest heaving with exertion. There were too many things coming at me right now and more than anything I wished I could ask Dad what to do. He was a strong man, the strongest I knew, and he would have a plan. A good head on his shoulders. Looking towards the sky, I wondered if he was watching me, keeping an eye on his son.

“What do you think Dad? What should I do?” I whispered, vulnerability in my voice, an emotion I loathed.

I knew there would be no response but grief consumed me anyways, silence my only companion as I continued to stare at the sky.
