He laughed, and the mom scowled. “Damn, remind me to bring my kids around you if I ever have any. You can help me keep them on the straight and narrow. I didn’t know you had kids.”
I could hear the curiosity in his tone. He was new to the force, and we weren’t that well acquainted. “I don’t. These are friends of my club. I’m just helping her with this. Luckily, her three behave.”
“Hi, I’m Gordon,” he said to Tonya as he held out his hand. She took it and gave it a shake. I noticed he didn’t drop her hand right away.
“Hi, I’m Tonya. Yeah, Law, I mean, Jake, didn’t touch that kid. All he did was talk to him. His screams were disturbing everyone. He told the boy’s mom he could take them in for disturbing the peace.”
“It’s really nice to meet you, Tonya. Yeah, Jake, or I mean, Law, as you call him, is quite the officer. I think he even scares us sometimes when he gives you that look.”
He gave me a teasing look. I gave him the one he was talking about. I’d perfected it years ago. It was my hardass look that said I wouldn’t take shit off anyone and not to try me, because you would lose. He grinned and Tonya’s eyes widened.
“I see what you mean. All I want to do is say yes, sir,” she whispered.
I couldn’t resist. It came out of my mouth without me thinking about it until it was too late. I leaned close to whisper in her ear, so she was the only one who could hear me.
“If you want to call me sir, we can do that somewhere much more private, darlin’.”
The flush that spread across her cheeks and the way she gulped was cute. I realized as I said it, that I meant it. I could feel my cock hardening at the image of her on her knees, looking up at me, with her hands behind her back, and her asking for my cock and calling me sir.
I tended to be somewhat of a dominant man in bed. I liked sex and I liked to be in control. That tendency had only grown over the years. Tonya, hopefully we’ll meet again,” he told her before clapping me on the back and going over to the highly pissed off mom. I finished loading the cart with our bags. As the cashier called out the total, I saw Tonya blanch. I took out my wallet and laid my card down before she could say a word.
“Law, you don’t have to pay for that! I got it,” she protested with a hiss.
“I was told to get you fixed up. As president, Terror’s wishes overrule yours. He told me to use the club’s card. If you want to fight about it, you’ll have to take it up with him.”
It was the truth. Terror did tell me to get whatever they needed and to pay for it out of the club’s slush fund. However, the card I’d used was my personal one. She didn’t need to know that. I quickly signed my name and got us headed toward the door.
She was quiet the whole way home. I wondered if she was psyching herself up to confront Terror or to do something else. I found I was looking forward to what she might say or do. Too bad I didn’t have much time to enjoy her company. I had to be on duty in a couple of hours. I’d have to wait and see what happened. Maybe I’d get lucky and find Dan this evening. That would make my shift.
Tonya:
I didn’t know what to do or think after Law took us back to the compound and helped me to unload everything. He stuck around afterward to play with the kids, which shocked me, then apologized for having to leave to go to work. He made me promise if I needed anything to call Lance. He made sure I had his number. Before he left, he got me to sign the report he’d written about my complaint against Dan. I felt funny signing it, but I knew it was the right thing to do.
My biggest worry was that Dan would go too far and hurt the kids. I didn’t care about myself, as long as they were safe. The Warriors and especially Law were going above and beyond in helping me until Soleil and Falcon came back from their mini vacation.
Not knowing what to do after feeding the kids other than to wear them out, I took them outside to play on the big playground set the club had. I was amazed to see something like that in a biker’s compound. It went along with the pool they had, which the twins were dying to get into. I told them it was still too cool to do that. It wouldn’t be long before the weather would be hot and everyone would be ready to dive into that pool. Of course, we wouldn’t be here, but I’d find them someplace to swim. The local park had a pool.
We hadn’t been out there long before we were joined by several of the old ladies and their kids. I knew all of them at least in passing due to Soleil introducing me back when I was getting my divorce. All of them were as nice and sweet as I recalled. I saw Harlow and made sure I went over to thank her again for taking the kids last night while I talked to Terror and the others.
“Hi, Harlow, how’s it going? Energy needing to be expended before bedtime?” I asked, as I pointed to her three running around, screaming and laughing.
She laughed and nodded her head yes. “Sure do. Bet you’re doing the same. How are you all getting along? Did you get everything you needed today when Law took you out?” There was a look in her eyes when she said that, but I didn’t know what it meant. I ignored it.
“Yes, we did, and thank you so much for keeping the kids last night and for offering us a place to lie low for a few days. I hate that we’re imposing. I assure you, we won’t stay long. I’m going to go apartment hunting tomorrow. I’m hopeful I can find something either in town or nearby. As long as it’s no more than an hour away, I think that would be fine. I want to stay close to Soleil and have our kids grow up as friends.”
“Hon, I don’t think you have anything to worry about. The distance between you and them will be more than close enough. And you’re not imposing. I don’t want you to ever think that. We’re more than willing to help. Soleil considers you family, which on its own makes you family to us. Being doubly tied to the club only makes it better.”
“Doubly tied? I don’t know what you mean. I don’t have any other ties to the club, Harlow.”
“Really? So the looks Law was giving you last night mean nothing? I don’t think so. In all the time I’ve known him, I’ve never seen him react to a woman like he did you. Terror agrees. You guys were gone for hours today. Don’t tell me you didn’t get the feeling that he was doing more than his prospect or police officer duties.”
I didn’t know what to say. Her assumption took my breath away for more than one reason. For one, I was shocked that she’d even think that Law was interested in me in that way. Second, the thought of him actually being attracted to me made me nervous and giddy. I wouldn’t know what to do with him. He was so far out of my league for a variety of reasons, that it was ridiculous. Finally, I laughed and waved her off.
“Ha, ha, very funny. No, Law was just doing his civic duty and what his president ordered him to do. He was a good sport. I will admit, I was surprised at how easily he dealt with the kids. Most men would’ve run and hid when faced with three that weren’t his. Heck, even men who are fathers usually will hide from their own kids.”
She laughed. I noted that Nyssa, Hawk’s wife, Ashlee, Devil Dog’s wife, and Regan, Steel and Hammer’s wife, had joined us and were listening. They laughed too.
