Oh god. She couldn’t drink alcohol, but she couldn’t give herself away either.

She ordered a 7-Up. At least she could pretend there was alcohol in the mix, right?

Mustang’s voice came into her ear. “Good call on the drink.”

Ughhh. She didn’t need the guys analyzing her every move. Knowing that she was already having cravings as well as emotional shakeups she never had before, Lena worried she would slip and give away the fact that she was pregnant. They might be men, but they were trained to noticeeverything.

She tipped her head to acknowledge Mustang’s comment and brought the glass to her lips. She barely sipped the fizzy drink before Frost’s low voice rumbled in her ear.

“Here he comes. And I’ll be damned. It’s Ramon.”

Second-in-command of the Black Bloods.

Lena’s insides gave a strange wobble, and for a horrific moment she wondered if those sweet heat chicken wings would come back to haunt her. But it quickly settled, and she ticked down the moments before the man approached her.

When she waved at the vacant seat, he nodded and sat. The next few minutes were a blur of them dancing around each other. She refused to give away her position, and the second-in-command of the Black Bloods was even more reluctant.

“I need this deal for my boss. Can’t make the boss unhappy,” she said.

“Neither can I. It seems we might be at an impasse.”

“This man is important to my boss. Your leader and your allies aren’t the only ones who want him.” She let that statement hang in the air. She needed him to believe she worked for a very powerful person—someone who wiped his boots on men like the Black Bloods.

His dark gaze landed on her, and Lena’s stomach churned. Those eyes were cold, ruthless. She’d seen a lot of cut sheets on terrorists and killers, yet from what she could see, this guy didn’t have a soul.

“I’m not sure what you expect to get from this meeting.” Ramon’s expensive watch flashed under the mood lighting.

“As I said, my employer would like to make a deal.”

He brought his drink to his lips, sipped. “Money?”

She gave him a single nod.

“How much could this man be worth?”

“Enough to send me here to make a deal with you. So let’s come to an agreement.” Her mind had shifted to her role. For the moment, she wasn’t Lena, a SEAL or the new role at the top of her list—a mother.

Ramon’s phone buzzed, and he pulled it out to read the message. “I need to take a call.”

She leaned across the table. She couldn’t let him slip away. “We aren’t finished negotiating.”

He started to push his chair back to stand. She shot to her feet and smoothed her hands over the dress—over her curves.

To her relief, the feminine move had the desired effect. Ramon’s eyes hooded.

“I’m sorry we couldn’t come to some understanding,” he said.

No, she couldn’t accept such a thing. Shehad toget Slade back from these people.

“Where are you going? I’ll ride with you. We’ll finalize the matter while we ride.” She shifted her weight, bringing her breasts into his line of vision.

He darted his tongue over his bottom lip. “All right. After you.” He extended a hand, and she breezed forward without pause. Taking the lead. Taking charge. She would have Slade safe and sound within the hour.

Then I can tell him about the baby.

Or not.

Into her ear came Frost’s voice. “We’re right behind you. I hope to hell you’re packin’ heat under that dress.”
