She might laugh if she weren’t feeling so damn edgy. She grabbed a knife from the block and brandished it at them. “There’s going to be plenty of food, so don’t ruin your appetites, guys.”

They walked out, chuckling among themselves, and she didn’t even care if she was the butt of their joke. She was really glad to have some time alone. Heck, ever since taking that pregnancy test, she hadn’t had a single moment to herself. While the timer counted down, Mustang was beating on the bathroom door.

Then their whirlwind flight to Mexico and hunting down Slade at the resort where they’d honeymooned…

She grabbed an avocado and sliced into it until she hit the seed, then rolled the fruit around the knife to split it in half. It had been some time since she made guacamole. Last time she was standing beside her dad. God, she missed her family. To be part of Blackout, she had to sever ties, go deep underground and let them think her dead.

It was an ugly truth about her world, a fact they all accepted in order to fight for what they believed in.

But what happened to, say, a woman who fell pregnant and now needed out? Could the dead come back to life?

She stared down at the bowl filled with mashed avocado and her stomach gave a hard lurch.

Had guac always been this disgusting?

Her stomach pitched. Oh no. Was she going to be…sick?

Just then, five guys burst into the kitchen. At Ramsey’s house, the space could accommodate all these huge SEALs. Not the case here. Now she was feeling nauseatedandclaustrophobic.

She set down the knife and gripped the edge of the counter. Then something even worse happened.

Slade walked in.

Lena took a huge gulp of air. She had to get them all out of here. If they saw her puke, she’d be listening to them make barf noises for weeks. Her teammates were like the brothers who never quit teasing her every chance they got.

Gunnison walked to the cupboard and pulled down several shot glasses. Oh god. What was he doing? They weren’t going to expect her to drink, were they?

She wasn’t sure what she wanted yet when it came to the baby situation but she knew drinking was a very bad idea.

Lachlan shouldered his way over to Lena and revealed a paper bag. When he pulled out a bottle of tequila, her stomach flopped like a fish out of water.

Dragging in a deep breath, she attempted to quell her nerves and her finicky stomach that picked the worst possible time to make this pregnancy known to her entire teamandthe man responsible for her condition.

She tried for a light tone. “Hey, guys, I thought we were just having Mexican food—not the whole party.”

Lachlan gave her a crooked grin. “We’re not on standby to deploy for the next five days. Time to let your hair down, Graham.”

“Five days? That’s news to me.” Her voice wasn’t entirely steady—and she didn’t like it. She wasalwaysin control, to the point that her teammates sometimes called her Tyrant or Bossy Boots. Ever since she peed on that stupid little stick and saw that stupid little plus sign, she’d been running on shaky ground.

She turned her attention back to the guacamole.

Baaad idea.Her stomach rolled.

Lachlan poured shots of tequila for everybody in the kitchen. When he held out a glass to her, she breezed past him on a fake mission to grab more items from the fridge.

“Count me out on the tequila.”

“Don’t you know the chef always makes better food when they’re drinking?” Lachlan thrust the drink at her.

“I’m pretty sure that’s a myth, and I’m not drinking on the job. I take my food seriously.” She set a handful of tomatoes she didn’t actually need on the counter and drew the cutting board toward her.

“Suit yourself.” Lachlan raised the glass, and so did the others. “To Mrs. Smith.”

Lena jerked her head up, gawking at them. “What are you talking about?”

“You in that black dress toting a gun? Frost and Mustang told us the story.”

“Just doing my job.” She dropped her stare to the tomato and violently sliced it in half. Juice and seeds squirted out. Oh god—she was really going to be sick.
