“You’re joking, Lena.” His voice was gravel.

She shook her head. “I’m dead serious. I love you, you love me. We have a little life coming.” She drew his hand to her stomach, and they both cradled their child in her womb. “What do you say?”

He swallowed in a hard gulp. “I’d say that Operation: Win Lena Back is a win.”

She laughed, and he let out a whoop, yanking her up into his arms. She threw hers around his neck and kissed him the way she wanted to kiss him every day…for the rest of their lives.

EPILOGUE

“Alpha versus Charlie. Winner buys pizza.” Apollo’s announcement had every person on both teams bobbing their heads in agreement and several grins were exchanged as the guys cockily placed bets on which team that would be.

The training field flooded with SEALs. When Apollo handed Lena a rifle, she rested it over her shoulder and strode out to take her position with her teammates.

“Hey, Graham!” Mustang called out.

She looked up from loading her weapon in preparation for the shooting competition.

“Welcome back.” Mustang grinned.

She returned it. It felt damn good to be back among her team. Even though she was the proudest momma of a three-month-old baby boy you could imagine, she was eager to jump back into the game.

She and Slade had spent months hashing out ways to make this all work. Their marriage, Slade Jr. and what she hoped wasn’t a rusty shooting instinct were all factors in how they’d decided to go forward.

So far, it worked out for Slade to temporarily take her position on Blackout Alpha. It meant he could remain close to her in DC. But now that her maternity leave was officially over, new decisions must be made.

Sparrow and Con both needed to sign off on their plan. And she was nervous.

Glancing across the field, she tried to pick out her husband among some of the significant others who’d attended today. Calling this a training was a formality, when really it was more of a big party they looked forward to all year.

She couldn’t find Slade in the crowd. The thought of him slipping out to change a diaper made her smile.

“Line up, Alpha,” came the call.

Lena crossed the open field to her position, narrowing her eyes on Charlie team in a threatening manner as she passed. Several guys openly laughed at her, which only put a smirk on her face and more determination in her gut to win this round.

At Sparrow’s signal, they all took aim and fired at the targets. Lena planted a bullet right where she wanted it in the center of the bull’s-eye.

“Nice shootin’, Graham!” Frost called to her. “How about a friendly wager between us?”

“Sure. What are the stakes?”

“Person who puts a bullet closest to the first one gets free babysitting.”

Frost’s beautiful baby momma was only a few months along, but the entire team was thrilled for him and Eden.

“You’re on. But just so you know, little Slade takes power naps like a born SEAL. Five minutes and he’s good to go another ten hours.”

Frost shot her a crooked grin. “I’ll take my chances.”

They got ready for their next round—and the side bet too. Lena could hit a target from three football fields away, so this would be an easy win.

A shout echoed across the field. “Lena, where’s the diaper rash cream?”

She raised her head, shifting her eye from the scope to the man far down the field at her back. Slade had their child hooked in one arm.

Was he serious? Asking her about diaper rash creamnow?

Several guys snickered, which she ignored.
