“I know you will,” I confirmed and took a deep breath, deciding not to shy away from his dominance and darkness. “And I love you for it.”

“Do you?” He questioned, running his thumb over my bottom lip. “Or does it scare you?”

“It excites me,” I replied, nipping his thumb with my teeth and sucking it into my mouth. I knew I was the opposite of seductive in a hospital gown and two-day-old body odor, but I also knew my husband was as addicted to me as I was to him. “It makes me crazy with need.”

“Arianna,” he growled, lowering his hand to my neck, laying the weight of it against it but not squeezing. “Be careful or I’ll give the entire hospital staff a shock when I fuck you right here, hard enough to make you scream for mercy.” I swallowed and smirked up at him, tiredly admitting defeat. “It’s been two days since I’ve felt your body against mine, love. I’m a very triggered man right now, so I recommend you don’t tempt me.”

“Yes, Sir.” I laid back on the pillow and winked at him. “How about you get me home and I’ll let you make slow sweet love to me that you love to do, even if you won’t admit it and damage your bad boy exterior.”

He tilted his head back and chuckled loudly before smiling down at me again. I could see the fatigue in his eyes even as he stood tall and strong over me. The last few days had weighed heavily on him, even if he wouldn’t admit it. “Let’s work on getting you home and then we can go from there.”

“Whatever you say, Wolf,” I smirked cheekily and he shook his head in exasperation.

“You’re trouble, Little One.”

Ilayonthecouch in the den with the television playing in the background but wasn’t paying attention to it. Tonight was the night that Nico planned to strike against my father, killing him and handing over the entire Rosetti fortune to my brother, Carmine. It would effectively end the terrorizing reign of Emilio and Mina Rosetti and ensure that my four other siblings were never in danger again.

But there was so much at stake, leaving me nervous and unsettled as Nico prepared for battle.

“Well a girl could get used to this kind of life.”

I snapped my head around towards the entrance and squealed with delight as my sisters walked in.

I leaped from the couch and grabbed onto them both, hugging them tight as something powerful passed between us. Like we could all feel the weight of today while also trying to enjoy the presence of each other.

“What are you guys doing here?” I pulled back and looked at them both. Amelia looked beautiful in a pair of dark skinny jeans and a cream-colored sweater and Anita wore a pair of burgundy corduroy pants and a sage green shirt. Not once had any of us been allowed to wear pants outside of the house.

Part of my parent's control, forcing us to wear modest dresses anytime we stepped out the front door.

“We’re here to keep you entertained.” Amelia shrugged, “Your husband thinks you’re going to go stir crazy today.” My eighteen-year-old sister was one of those souls that were old, regardless of her age, and it showed when she talked so casually like that.

“Andwewere going stir crazy,” Anita added with a smirk. “Carmine locked us up tighter than even our parents did.”

“It’s for our safety.” Amelia rolled her eyes and then gazed at me. “How are you?” She looked down at my stomach with a pointed glance. “Is there something you’d like to tell us?”

I pulled them with me to the couch and sat with one on each side. “Who told you?”

“Believe it or not, Cristian,” Amelia answered. “I think the quiet one is actually really excited to be an uncle.”

“He blabbed and Carmine smacked him for it.” Anita joked. “Why didn’t you tell us though?”

“It’s only just happened and with everything else going on-” I droned. “I just didn’t get a chance.”

“Are you excited?” Anita asked.

“Extremely,” I responded instantly, taking their hands in mine. “I got lucky with this marriage, guys. It’s unlike anything I could have imagined.”

“He definitely brainwashed her,” Anita whispered around the front of me to our middle sister like I wasn’t three inches away. “How do we break the spell?”

“Oh, stop it.” I swatted them both. “I won’t lie and say it’s been all rainbows and butterflies. We actually hated each other in the very beginning, regardless of-” I froze, looking at Anita. “Never mind.”

“No, no.” Amelia rushed on, “You have to finish that sentence. I have to hear it.”

My parents never spoke of physical relationships between partners. We never had the sex talk or learned anything about our bodies past what our older brothers joked about when they thought we weren’t listening. Or what Google could come up with if we happened to crack the wifi password that changed more often than the weather.

“We have a strong, connection. That’s all.” I tried for politeness.

“The sex is good.” Amelia nodded, “Got it.”
