I scoffed and grabbed my toothbrush and squeezed toothpaste onto it. When it was centimeters from my mouth I realized she had frozen stiff next to me, watching me. I slowly pulled it away, eyeing it, “What did you do to my toothbrush?”

Her lips twitched and then she grabbed her own and put paste on it and started brushing her teeth. “Scrubbed the toilet with it.” She shrugged her shoulders, and I grunted in revulsion, making her giggle.

I tossed it in the garbage as she rinsed her mouth and put hers back in the drawer. I grabbed hers and reapplied paste to it and started brushing my teeth while smirking at her, besting her at her own game. Glaring at me before rolling her eyes, she walked out to the bedroom, muttering under her breath what sounded a lot like ‘Neanderthal’.

I finished and followed her back out into the bedroom, giving chase to the siren on the shore even though I knew she’d draw blood if I got too close to her. She stood in the closet with her back to me, unclasping her bra and taking it off while shyly looking over her shoulder before sliding a shirt of mine over her slender body.

Troublemaker.

“Have you been sleeping in my shirts while I’ve been away?” I teased her as she undid her jeans and shimmied out of them. The shirt was so long on her I didn’t see anything good before she kicked off the jeans and tossed them into the hamper. “Pining away for me, were you?”

I pulled the blankets back on the bed and climbed in, resting my back against the headboard so I could watch her.

“You wish I was, big guy,” She challenged bravely, but I could see the trepidation in her eyes as she neared the bed. “Where am I supposed to sleep?”

I raised an eyebrow at her before pulling back the covers on the other side, “Right here.”

“We haven’t-” She stopped, biting her lip.

“I know.” I took pity on her and patted the mattress next to me. “Truce, remember?”

She squinted her eyes and played with the hem of the shirt before sighing and walking to her side, climbing up into the bed. “You strangled me the last time we shared space for any length of time.” Her voice wasn’t angry, and if I didn’t know better, there was almost a hint of hurt to it.

“I rendered you unconscious in the middle of your manic rage.”

“I wasn’t raging.” She stared down at her fingers on the hem of the blankets. “I was actually pretty calm by that point.”

I sighed and leaned back into the pillows more, feeling the fatigue of burning the candles at both ends for the last few weeks catching up. “Would it make you feel better if I told you it wasn’t one of my prouder moments?”

She looked up at me with her big brown eyes and chewed on her bottom lip like she was contemplating it. “Maybe.”

Silence fell over us as we waded into uncharted territory. I didn’t know the first thing about tending to a woman’s feelings, worse yet, a young woman who had never been in a relationship before.

And I doubted she knew how to deal with a man that was so used to getting what he wanted whenever he wanted it, that he didn’t even know how to ask anymore.

Neither of us really had a clue what we were supposed to do.

“Would you like an apology for it?” I questioned.

“Only if you were actually sorry for it.” She countered, turning her body to face me.

“I’m not,” I replied and then took a deep breath before continuing. “I’m not sorry for it because I don’t remember a time in my life that I’ve ever dealt with a woman in any way other than how I did at that moment. I don’t know any difference. But I do acknowledge that I shouldn’t have acted that way towardsyou.”

She watched me like she was trying to decide if I was telling the truth or not before rolling her eyes and twisting back around in the bed to face forward, “Well, I’ll tell you this.” She smoothed out the blankets on her lap with prim grace, “If you ever do that to me again, I’ll stab you in your sleep.”

I smirked at her and she looked out of the corner of her eye at me and then glared at my amusement. “I think I’d like to see you try, Little One.”

“Hmm.” She leaned over the side of the bed to the end table and clicked off her lamp. With my lamp still on I caught a glimpse of her naked bottom as the hem of the shirt rose and I licked my lips. She had no idea, but she was baiting a very needy bear. “Good night.”

“No kiss goodnight?” I asked as she lay on her side facing away from me, covering herself up with the blankets.

“Nope,” she popped the ‘p’ on the end, and I grinned at her back.

I turned my lamp off and then kicked my boxers off and tossed them onto the floor before turning to face her in the darkness. I slid up against her back and lifted the shirt that she’d pulled down until my bare cock nestled right against her ass and pulled her tight to my chest.

“Nico!” She gasped.

“Shh,” I crooned, sliding my arm under her pillow, essentially molding us together from head to toe, “If you won’t kiss me goodnight, the least you can do is let me cuddle.”
