“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Back that up. You saw a Camaro?” The car wasn’t uncommon, but what were the odds? “Was it an orange one?”

“Yeah,” Gray said. “You know who drives it?”

Luke’s hands fisted at his sides. He had a pretty good idea. “Aldon Wickers,” he gritted out through clenched teeth.

Kory paled. “ManCave Aldon?”

“That’s the one.”

“Who the hell is he?” Gray’s gaze bounced between them.

“And why would he want to bust into your place?” Dylan added.

“Because I got him fired.”

They turned to see Andy standing there, still holding her bundle, face completely blank.

“Andy, no. This wasn’t your fault.” Kory took a step towards her.

“Yes, it is,” was the stony response that stopped her in her tracks. “And it’s yours too. You told me to tell my dad what Aldon and Dave said about me, and I did. I ratted them out, and my dad fired them, and if I’d just let it go, Aldon wouldn’t have come here and killed my bird.”

Kory’s eyes welled again. “Oh, god. I’m so sorry.”

“God damn it,” Luke snapped. “It’s no one’s fucking fault but Aldon’s—”

“Yoo-hoo!” A woman materialized at the screen door.

Luke rounded on her. “Who the fuck are you?” he snarled at the same time as Andy cocked her head.

“Miss Tiffany?”

Startled, the woman frowned at him before turning her attention to Andy. “Oh, honey, I’m so sorry to hear about Petals. Davis called me after the landlord called her this morning about the screaming.”

“I was really upset.”

“Of course you were.” The woman slipped through the door, a blanket-stuffed basket in hand.

Andy glanced at the bundle and took a step back, clutching her own more tightly to her chest. “My parents know what happened?”

“Yes,” Tiffany said softly. “They’re flying home now.”

Andy flinched, body rocking subtly with the news. “No, no, no. They had twelve days booked in Ireland after France. They still have almost a week left in Dublin. I’m ruining their trip.”

Luke was about two seconds from throwing another person out of Andy’s apartment. This lady was upsetting his girl. She needed to leave.

“Andalise?”

Andy stilled at this, gaze fluttering to Tiffany, who was watching her with quiet sympathy and no small amount of maternal affection.

“Davis has been whining at me for days now about how much she and your father miss you. Trust me when I say there is no place in the world your parents would rather be than with you right now. Since they have quite a few miles left to travel” — Tiffany gave an embarrassed snort — “and since I owe you big time for what happened at the club last week, I’m here in their stead. Is that okay?”

Andy sniffed, then side-eyed the woman’s basket. “I’m not ready to give her to you yet.”

“That’s fine. How ’bout if I wait at the patio table while you say your goodbyes to Petals. I’ll put the basket on the table and whenever you’re ready, you can bundle her up nice and snug inside it.”

“Fine.” Andy walked back over to her swing.

Tiffany set the basket on the table, eyes still full of care and concern for his girl.
