“Next, we need to be in the correct stance. You want to bend your knees with your body positioned at a forty-five-degree angle in relation to the net.

“Then, for the wrist shot, you want to—”

“I think I’ve got it,” Scottie said, eyeing the net. Sweeping the puck forward, he transferred his weight, rotated his body, and took the shot.

“Holy shit,” Noah whooped. “Little bro is coming after your spot on the team.”

A faint grin traced my brother’s face.

“Where did you learn to do that?” I asked, and he shrugged. “Just because I’m afraid of the ice doesn’t mean I don’t pay attention.”

Shit, he was right.

Of course, he was right.

“We’re going to start training,” I said. “Whenever I get home, you and I are going down to the rink.”

“For real? You’ll train with me?”

“Hell yeah, I will.”

Scottie threw his arms around my stomach and almost sent us both flying, but I managed to right myself, clutching him tightly to my chest. My eyes found Harper, and she smiled.

“Thank you,” I mouthed.

She gave me a small, understanding nod.

“This is the best day ever,” Scottie announced. “Now all we need is for Harper to agree to go out with you, and both our dreams will come true.”

Harper smothered a laugh as my gaze bounced between her and my loose-lipped brother.

“What’s that you say, Scottie?” Noah smirked. “Big bro wants to take Harper out on a date?”

“Holden,” I hissed, aware of Harper watching and listening less than five feet away.

“I think Mason wants to kiss her. He’s always looking at her mouth.”

Fuck.

“Sounds like it,” Noah agreed, amusement dancing in his eyes.

He was loving every second of this, and I was dying on the inside. But Scottie was so damn happy and relaxed. I didn’t want to ruin things.

Even if Harper was right there and able to hear everything.

“You sly, sly dog. No wonder she blew me off the other night.” Ward whispered as he circled Scottie and me. “Want to go a little one-on-one?” He crouched down to meet my brother’s eye level but didn’t get too all up in his space.

Their patience and effort with him were more than I could have ever have asked for.

“Can I, Mason?”

“Sure, just take it easy, okay.”

Scottie glided across the ice with Ward to where Aiden and Leon were.

“He can skate,” I said as Harper joined me, slightly awed.

“Looks like he can do a whole lot more than just skate,” she said.
