“You’re spending a lot of time there lately.”

“Yeah, well, let’s just say it’s a little crowded lately.”

“Noah and Rory—”

He grimaced, running a hand over his jaw. “Please don’t finish that sentence.”

“You know they’re good for each other, right?”

“I know.” His expression softened a fraction. “But I don’t need to see them all over each other every second of every day.”

“Fair point. Well, there’s a spare room at the house still. You could always move in. Spend the rest of your senior year at Lakers House.”

“Don’t tempt me.”

“Shit, you’re thinking about it?”

“Yes. No. Fuck, I don’t know.” He ran a hand through his dark hair.

“Well, the room is as good as yours,” I said. “Whenever you need it, you know that.”

“Appreciate it, man. Senior year.” He blew out a heavy breath. “When the fuck did that happen.”

“I’m not thinking about it yet.”

“It’ll be here before you know it, Mase. And then you’ll be making some hard fucking decisions.”

If only he knew.

I kept my mouth shut, though. The guys knew about Scottie. They knew a little about my old man walking out. But they didn’tknow.

Even Noah didn’t know everything, and we’d been tight since he started LU last year.

I wasn’t good at opening up and letting people in because I’d seen too many times how people could disappoint you.

“What’s the plan now?” Austin asked.

“Going to head back to the house. Get some food, and get some studying in.”

“We should go out soon.”

“You asking me out on a date, Hart?” I smirked.

“No, asshole. I’m just saying Connor, Aiden, and Noah are wifed up. Us bachelors have got to stick together.”

“Sure. Count me in.”

“Great. I’ll set it up. We can invite Ward and Leon along too. Maybe a couple of the other guys.”

“Keep it small. Less competition.”

Joke.

It had been a joke. But Austin’s eyes lit up. “Good point,” he said. “Just the four of us then.”

“Just let me know when and where.” I wasn’t against hanging out with the couples. But I didn’t plan to spend the rest of the semester playing the spare part.

Austin flashed me a wolfish grin. “Catch you later.”
