“Zoe, what the hell are you doing here?” he asked, shaking his head.

Seeing her this morning had been a shock, but one that had clarified his feelings for Emma. Logan didn’t want her here. He didn’t want Zoe in his life.

She walked into the living room.

Classic Zoe. Confident and acting like she owned the place.

“You saw me today.” She pulled off her jacket and threw it over the back of the sofa. Then she turned, and the lift of the single brow was a challenge.

One he wasn’t interested in taking on.

“Yes. I did. There’s nothing more to say to each other, Zoe.” Logan still hated her as much as he loved her. “So,whyare you here?”

He’d long since accepted he’d always love her in his own way. And also hate her. It was hard to forgive someone for what she had done to him. Ripping away dreams and promises of a life together.

She was wearing the same dress and heels as this morning, so clearly, she’d come straight from work. Zoe was in marketing, and while she’d taken a reasonable chunk of his wealth when they divorced, she still chose to work.

Something which surprised him, given she was now a mother. None of his business, of course.

Other than that, Logan knew nothing about her new life.

He didn’t know where she lived.

He didn’t know if the child was a boy or girl.

He had no idea if she’d even married the man she’d had an affair with.

Zoe dropped her hip. “I think we both know we do have something to discuss. I saw the way you looked at me. You felt it this morning, just as I did.”

Logan frowned.

Ah, no.

The only thing he’d felt was clarity. Clarity about his entire life, how he’d wasted too much time on the past and nearly lost Emma because of this woman and their history.

Seeing Zoe had been a gift.

Not in the way she thought.

Logan wasn’t about to share any of that with her either, as it was none of her business.

He wanted her out of the house before Emma came downstairs. Not that he thought she’d jump to any conclusions after he had told her everything this morning, but Zoe was an intimidating woman to other females, and he didn’t want to put Emma through that.

“You’re mistaken, Zoe,” Logan said. “You cheated on me, th—”

“Which was a mistake,” she said, interrupting him. “Doug is not the man I thought he was. I’ve been thinking about you a lot, Logan. When I saw you today, I knew it was a sign.”

Nope.

No, it wasn’t.

“I take it Doug is the owner of the red ass with the ugly mole?” Logan almost snarled, recalling the guy’s butt from the fateful day.

Zoe frowned at him.

“Don’t be an asshole, Logan. You know who Doug is.”

An icy chill sliced through him.
