That swagger of his? He earned it.

Logan Dufort was sex on legs.

He was also now a part of her past.

Early this morning, Logan had accompanied her to the penthouse elevator after she’d insisted she could walk herself down to the lobby and out to her Uber driver alone. Anything more would’ve felt awkward.

There’d been no intimacy between them—just sex. Pure lust. Which had been well and truly doused.

She could barely stand or keep her eyes open.

Emma had slid her arms into the jacket he wrapped around her, reminding them both how their night had started.

“Déjà vu,” he’d said.

“Yes.” She smiled. “Will you tell Daniel?”

“No. You? Will you talk to Harper?”

“Probably.” Emma shrugged with a grin. “We have to debrief. It’s a girl thing.”

Logan had run his hand through his hair. “Jesus, she’s my cousin-in-law.”

Emma patted his chest. “Don’t worry. I’ll only tell her the good parts.”

The speed at which his brows had shot up had been hilarious. Then he’d tugged her against his chest. “Sassy and fucking gorgeous. A shame I didn’t meet you ten years ago.”

Emma had blinked at that.

“Ahh, please fucking tell me you aren’t married.” She had tugged out of his arms, watching his eyes darken.

“You clearly didn’t dig very deep when you Googled me.”

“I said I Googled wealthy liquor company owners. I saw you’d divorced, but you could’ve remarried.” Emma waited. “So, the answer is...?”

“No. Never again,” Logan replied firmly, crossing his arms.

That was a bold statement. She figured the divorce had been a painful one but wasn’t interested in digger deeper. It was time to just wave goodbye and go their separate ways.

The sex had been amazing, but Logan wasn’t the sort of man she could see herself with long term.

Not that he was offering.

Nor was she asking.

In fact, she wasn’t sure what her type was, but it wasn’t a guy in a suit. Even if hewasa hot billionaire.

Seeing her mother’s eyes light up if Emma brought a man like Logan home was never going to happen.

A struggling musician?

Much more her type.

In any case, she’d dated several suits in the past, and they’d all ended badly. Emma found she had different beliefs and philosophies in life. And once she became an author, many of them had said it was a poor choice, just like her mother had, and not a solid life plan.

In other words, shewas a bad choice.

So, fuck them.
