Fletcher was hosting a wake for their immediate family and their grandmother’s close friends. To be fair, there weren’t many of the latter, given their advanced age.

And they had already left.

It was getting late, and after intervening in not one, but three altercations between Jonathan and Andrew, Logan was nearly done.

His bed was calling.

Out of the corner of his eye, Logan spotted the elevator open, and Harper stepped out. She looked as bedraggled as he felt, so he was surprised she hadn’t gone straight home.

How had Emma fared today, he wondered?

And had she told Harper about their evening?

When Harper disappeared into the fold of Daniel’s arms, David, her personal security, stepped around her and headed into the kitchen, where he grabbed a bottle of water out of the fridge.

His job was done.

He’d delivered Daniel’s greatest treasure home. Or to Fletcher’s penthouse, at least.

Logan let his eyes drift to the empty elevator behind Harper. For...What are you looking for?

A certain brunette.

Like hell I am.

That wasn’t how this worked. He’d had Emma for one night, and that was that. Logan was only thinking of her because he could still taste her on his lips.

It wasn’ther.

It was her body.

Her wet, tight pussy.

Emma hadn’t lingered at the door after they’d said their goodbyes, and Logan respected that. In fact, when she’d offered him her cheek rather than her lips before walking out the door, he had been surprised.

From experience, even the women who said they didn’t want anything else left with a glimmer of hope in their eyes.

Not Emma.

It was almost as if she was saying goodbye after a friendly business transaction.

Perhaps it was.

Except Logan was struggling to brush her off, as he normally did other women. Emma had been incredible. She was just the right amount of submissive and soft as silk under his fingers.

Responsive.

Beautiful.

Delicious.

A sniff drew his attention.

Right. Fuck. Funeral.

As the first grandchild, his grandmother had spoiled Logan when he was younger. Then he’d gone off to college and leaped right into his career. He had loved Delores, but the truth was, he hadn’t spent much time with her over the past ten plus years.

She had been a judgmental woman, he noted in his adult years. After the relationship breakdown between Jonathan and Andrew, she was constantly blaming both the boys.
