Like a woman who has been fucked to within an inch of her life. One completely sated.

Emma sat down after loading her plate with eggs, toast, and bacon and smiled. “Very well.”

Then she stupidly looked at Logan, who had the faintest grin on his face.

She blushed.

Hunter’s eyes shot between them. Then he looked at Addison.

Oh crap.

This is what she didn’t want. If anyone figured out they were sleeping together, they would try to matchmake the hell out of them. Namely Harper. Neither she nor Logan wanted that.

Not at all.

Emma could see herself settling down with a musician, or perhaps another writer. Maybe an actor, or even a humanitarian.

A businessman? No.

Logan was worth billions, just like his cousins—okay, fine, so she had dug a little deeper after their night together. But only from curiosity!

He wasn’t as rich as Daniel and the other men around the breakfast table, but he was still a very wealthy man.

Aka, not her type.

Her mother would think Emma had turned the corner and come to her senses. No way she’d ever letthathappen.

Maybe Emma would date someone from Greenpeace when she got home, as a sort of palate cleanse.

Her mother would hate that.

“Feel like sharing the joke?” Hunter asked.

Emma’s eyes flew open. Shit, had she been smiling openly?

She glanced around the table and found everyone staring at her. Logan looked especially pleased with himself.

Arrogant.

That’s what he was.

The fact he had every reason to be proud of himself in the boardroomandthe bedroom was not the point.

Then something happened.

Emma had no explanation, except perhaps insanity, for what she did next. She started talking.

“Just thinking about a guy I met who works for Greenpeace. I’ve decided I’m going to date him,” she announced.

Harper burst out laughing. “Your mother will have kittens.”

Logan choked on his coffee.

“I’m confused,” Hunter said, and Addison nodded her agreement, staring between Emma and Harper.

Fletcher tapped his knife on his coffee mug, and everyone turned to him. Beside him, Olivia grinned.

“Okay, ahh, good luck with that date, Emma. And now everyone is here,” Fletcher said, “we have an announcement. Well, more a confession.”
