CHAPTER FOURTEEN
“Why do you even wantto go to space?” Emma asked, lying in Logan’s arms on the sand. She was too scared to think about how much of the grainy stuff was in unspeakable places.
Emma needed a shower, but there was no way she was having one with this man. Being silent in such an echoey space would be impossible. Especially with the way he made her come.
Hard.
Harder than she’d ever come.
And each time, she wanted more.
Logan reached for the sweater he’d wrapped around Emma earlier and pulled it on. “The fire is dying. We should get you inside,” he said, ignoring her question.
Emma sat up on her elbow and glanced down at him. “What did you mean earlier about saying no to go to space?”
“Leave it. I shouldn’t have said anything,” he said coldly, which was in stark contrast to the last hour.
“Don’t do that.” Emma shook her head.
“Do what?”
“Shut down like that.”
“Like what, Emma? This isn’t a relationship. We’re not sharing feelings.” Logan’s features turned hard.
Wow!
“Jesus, Logan. I’m asking about space travel, not to move in with you.” Emma pulled out of his arms.
She jumped up and went looking for her panties and shorts. When she was dressed, Emma glared at him.
Logan was pulling on his shorts, still seated, and pulled the zipper up. His arms dropped to his knees, and then he locked eyes with her, letting out an audible sigh.
“The reason I didn’t go was because of my ex-wife,” he said. “A time in my life I would rather forget. You hit a nerve.”
Emma wrapped her arms around herself and nodded. Logan climbed to his feet and walked over. Without a word, he slid his sweater over her head and pulled her arms through it.
“You know, if this was a book, that would come across as a little romantic.” She raised a brow at him. “Your words don’t match your actions.”
Logan took her hips.
“You looking to get married, Emma? Is that what you want?” he asked.
She pulled back.
