“Good. I did it right.”

By it, he meant fucking me into forgetting my own name.

He settled on his back and pulled me on top of him, my legs straddling his waist. My head was on his chest and I heard the beat of his heart beneath my ear.

“You’re still hard?” I asked.

While he wasn’t doing anything about it, I felt him pressing against my center.

“Mmm,” he replied. “Always with you. Baby, where are your glasses?”

“Contacts,” I replied.

“I think I like the glasses better. And the pencil behind your ear.”

I lifted my head, set my chin on the back of my hand.

“You want me to be a nerd?”

With his head on the pillow, his dark eyes held mine.

“I want you. Nerdy, sexy. I love it all.”

I couldn’t help but smile. This big man, who had everything he could ever want–money, a successful career, family, a dog–wanted me.

“Now what?” I asked, my brain returning and with it, reality.

“I fuck you again.”

“I mean after,” I replied.

“I fuck you again.”

I laughed. “Mav.”

He flipped us so I was beneath him. He was up on his elbow, head resting against his palm. His free hand began to roam over me again, something he seemed to like to do.

“We go back to Hunter Valley and do our thing.”

“Do our thing?” I asked, running my hand through his hair.

“Note the word our. That means together. No running.”

“No more fake fiancées?” I countered.

“No more Jake Ryans?” he asked.

I had to smile because, God, what insanity.

“You’re my Jake Ryan,” I assured him.

“That’s right, baby. All yours.” He was looking into my eyes as he said that.

I twisted my lips to the side. “We’ve only known each other a few days.”

He shrugged. “I want all the days, Bridget. You, me, Scout. All the days.”

He lowered his head and kissed me.
