I took a deep breath, smiled. “I’d rather strip than shut down out of principle alone. I will not see an ex lord money over me. No way. And my parents can suck it.”

“You go, girl. Reach out to Bridget.”

I grabbed my phone and texted her.

“Change of schedule for today. You’re headed to Hunter Valley.”

Bradley was in my ear and I was in my apartment in Denver brewing a cup of coffee. I finished my call with London and was waiting to be added to a phone meeting with the Hyport team in Geneva.

“I thought I was meeting with the linen association downtown,” I said, holding the mug and waiting impatiently for the percolating to finish.

“You’re doing interviews for the James Corp loan program with Bridget,” he replied. “They start at ten.”

It wasn’t six and I was supposed to be in Montana in four hours.

I sighed, rubbed a hand down my face. “This is Mav’s project. Why am I tackling it?”

I wasn’t bothered about missing a lunch with the linen association president, but why did I have to take on Mav’s work, too? It was pretty much a whine like a five-year-old. I had the usual CEO business like linen lunches, but I had so much to do on the Hyport deal, I didn’t want to do Mav’s work, too.

“He’s in the San Juans. Some issue with the inn there.”

He was in Washington state, not Montana. Great.

“No delay possible, instead?” I wondered. The machine beeped and I filled my mug.

“No delay. Bridget’s ready to go with these last ones. She’s not a James… yet and wants one of you to be there.”

“Theo is in town,” I reminded.

“Theo’s got patients.”

“I have a meeting with the linen association and whatever else you haven’t yet told me about.”

“I cleared your schedule. You’re in Hunter Valley today.”

“What about Dex?”

“Tampa.”

I sighed again, then took a careful sip. It was good coffee, but nothing like the beans that were stocked at my small place in Hunter Valley.

“I had the pilot put in a flight plan to return at four. You’ll be home by dinner.”

The caffeine was slowly kicking in. Hmm… wait. Why was I so grumpy about Mav being away and Theo having too many patients to do the interviews when I could see Eve? This was the perfect opportunity to see her again.

I didn’t want to be back in this boring apartment by dinner. I could be with Eve just like Dex and Theo kept prodding me about.

For the first time in two weeks, since I flew out of Hunter Valley last, I was excited. So was my dick.

“I’ll stay overnight,” I told him. I wanted her in my bed and for a hell of a lot more than a quickie. I wanted naked, sweaty, loud sex with Eve.

My place in Hunter Valley was ready for me, although I didn’t remember if I made the bed before I left the last time. The heat could be adjusted remotely. Same went with the security, the lights, including the lock to the front door. I just needed Eve.

“All right,” he replied, always willing to shift and flex. “Then you’ll fly from there directly to San Francisco to be on schedule for tomorrow’s noon meeting with the US Hycorp team.”
