“Will you at least put on some fucking pants?”

ChapterForty-Seven

Lorenzo

Ava’s arm is wrapped in mine as we make our way from the house to the garage. Not nearly as deceptive as she thinks she is, I am well aware that she is using me as support to help her stay balanced.

Doc is just finishing up with Marco as we enter the garage.

“I know he pulled through the night, but how is he doing?”

Before Doc can answer, I can hear Marco arguing with Carlo about getting out the bed.

“He’s a stubborn ass,” Doc smiles, “but he is going to be perfectly fine. Try to keep him still so he doesn’t pull at his stitches.”

Walking past Doc and towards Marco, I yell out to him, “Would you just lay the fuck down?”

“Fuck that,” he yells back pulling the various wires connecting him to medical equipment from his skin. I’ve still got five fucking lives left, and I feel fine.”

“Apparently no one is going to listen to me today,” I grumble as Ava slides her arm from mine and walks towards Marco.

“Thank you,” she leans towards him and places a gentle kiss on his cheek, “I know this happened because of me, and I will be forever grateful of the sacrifice you made to save me.”

“What am I? Fucking chopped liver,” Carlo calls over to Ava.

“I’m sorry, Carlo,” Ava slowly walks towards him.

“Because I didn’t get shot, I don’t get a thank you,” he smiles at her as she leans up to gingerly place a kiss on his cheek as well.

“Keep it in your pants playboy,” I glare my eyes at him, “we’ve talked about this.”

Carlo simply smiles a big toothy grin back at me.

“Since no one is going to rest in bed like they’re supposed to, we might as well all head inside to get some breakfast.”

“Fuck yeah, I could eat,” Marco winces as he quickly stands from the bed.

Shaking my head, I slip Ava’s arm into mine to begin the walk back to the house. I would question if Carlo was going to be able to handle Marco, but it appears that he will be walking on his own.

Sal and Luca are already in the kitchen getting a cup of coffee when the four of us enter the room.

“That’s a stubborn fucking bunch you got there,” Sal gestures at me.

“No shit, Papa.”

Instead of the dining room, we all take seats at the smaller table in the kitchen. There is plenty of room for the six of us.

“I had some guys working on everything last night,” Carlo speaks as he pulls coffee cups for the rest of us from the cabinet. Once pouring, he continues, “They have scoured the security footage from the penthouse and the entire building. There is no sign of Karyan, and they don’t know how she got out.

“Hold up,” Ava startles in her seat, “You mean you guys have no idea where she is?”

“It’s okay,” my hand grabs hers resting on the table, “you are safe here.”

“You said that before,” Ava scoffs back at me, “and you do remember how that turned out?”

“I’m not leaving your side. I will not make that mistake again. If she wants to come for you again, she is going to fucking come through me first.”

“They are currently looking into CCTV footage from around the building to see if they can pick her out of the crowd,” Carlo continues, “but so far, they haven’t found anything.
