Cody came to her and wrapped his arms around her from behind, his hands on her belly.

Natalie looked from him to Summer. “I’m sorry I got in the way. I’m sorry about all of it.”

Summer gave her a nod. “Sisters?”

Natalie nodded. “Sisters.”

Miranda smiled at all of them. “Well, it’s late.” She made a big show of yawning. “We should all get to bed.”

Natalie got the hint. “Come on, Haley.” She tugged her sister toward the stairs, but then stopped short and turned to Summerand Cody. “You two look perfect together.” She and Haley disappeared, leaving her and Cody alone with her dad and stepmom.

“She’s right, you know. You two have what it takes to make your relationship last.” Her dad held her gaze. “Your mom is looking for perfect. But sticking together, talking, working things out when it’s hard, that’s what marriages are built on.” He squeezed Miranda to his side.

“Who said anything about marriage?” Summer asked, not making assumptions, but also hoping she and Cody took that leap when they were ready.

Cody turned her into his arms and held her close. “Summer, I’m never going to let you go.”

Chapter Fifty-Two

Summer reached for her ringing phone on the nightstand next to Cody’s bed. She barely grabbed it before Cody rolled her onto her back, buried his face in her neck, and settled back into sleep.

She saw Lucy’s name on the caller ID and swiped to accept the call, even though it wasn’t even dawn yet. “Do you have any idea what time it is in Carmel?”

“Hey. I’ve waited hours to hear what happened with Cody and your family.”

“All is well in the family. My mother and father have called a truce. Natalie apologized to me and Cody.”

“And Cody?” Lucy asked, breathlessly awaiting her answer.

Cody grabbed her phone and put it to his ear without moving an inch away from her. “Cody wants to make love to his girlfriend, since someone woke him up, and he loves her so much he can’t help himself.” He ended the call with Lucy squealing and giggling, then rose up and looked down at Summer. “Would you have rather talked to her than—”

She kissed him to shut him up. “You. I pick you.”

He grinned and her heart melted. “I love you.”

She pulled him down until his lips were a fraction of an inch from hers. “Show me.”

And he did that early morning—and every day after that.

Epilogue

One year later... A Summer wedding

Never let it be said that Charles Sutherland didn’t do right by his Ladybug. Especially when it came to throwing her the wedding of her dreams.

He’d been right about Cody. The man never left her side. They spent their time between their beautiful Carmel seaside home and the house they bought together in Austin. Summer worked at the Sutherland offices there while Cody oversaw the expansion of W. L. Robotics. They found a balance that worked for them.

And Summer finally had her whole family around her.

Which meant her sisters Lucy, Natalie, and Haley were all waiting for her at the altar, along with Brooke standing up for Cody as “best man,” with her new husband, David, and little Alex at their side.

Nate stood on Summer’s left. Charles stood on her right.

She’d never looked more beautiful than she did in her wedding gown with the full white skirt, cinched waist, and cap sleeves. His princess.

She wore the beautiful diamond solitaire necklace Cody had given her this morning as a wedding gift. The stone was the sameround shape and size as the engagement ring he gave her the day he proposed on the beach on their six-month anniversary.

“Ready?” Nate asked as the wedding march began to play.
