He shoves me against the side of the house, the force shaking me up. “Listen here, bitch. I’m going to get what I want and then I’m going to leave.” His rough hand jerks and pulls on my breast.

I like it rough, but I don’t like it rough without my consent.

He shoves two fingers inside of me with such force that it brings tears to my eyes. “You can’t start denying me now, Belle,” he sneers.

He tries to kiss me, but I turn my head. “Get off, Dax.”

“I think she told you to get the fuck off her,” I hear Maddox say.

“Who are you?” Dax turns his attention to Maddox, and I manage to get loose from his grip.

I duck just in time for Maddox to throw Dax against the railing on the porch. “If someone tells you no, that means no.”

He punches him in the face, and I can hear the sound of bones breaking in his nose.

“I’ll fucking kill you for that,” Dax spits out, throwing a punch in Maddox’s direction.

I frantically search around the yard for something, anything. Glancing down, I see a rock off to the side of the porch. I grab it with both hands and come up behind Dax, who is leaning over the railing, holding his nose.

Putting the rock in the air above my head, I bring it crashing down on the back of Dax’s head and he falls instantly to the floor of the porch.

Maddox looks at me. We both glance between each other and Dax’s limp body. “I think you killed him,” Maddox whispers in the dark.

“I hope I did,” I admit.

I watch Maddox lean down and put his fingers to the side of Dax’s neck, checking for a pulse. He looks up at me and shakes his head.

“What do we do now?” I’m starting to panic. I’ve never killed a man before, not intentionally anyway.

“Calm down.” Maddox is eerily calm for just watching me murder someone.

“What if we just drop him off in the alley of the club with the rock? His dad was killed in a fight outside of the club years ago, it wouldn’t be odd for him to go that way too,” I suggest.

Maddox nods. “Good thinking. Grab his legs and we will put him in the trunk of my car.”

Flashbacks of dragging his dead dad through a field hit me like a train. My breathing gets unsteady, and I think I might be having a panic attack.

I feel Maddox put his hands on my shoulder. “Belle. Listen to me. This isn’t the same. He was trying to hurt you. You were defending yourself.” He looks me in the eyes, and I feel a calmness come over me.

I nod in understanding. “You’re right. Okay. I can do this.”

I grab his feet and we carry him out to Maddox’s car. It’s after three in the morning, so there isn’t anyone out when we drive through town.

“Are there cameras out here?” Maddox asks when we pull into the club’s parking lot.

“No. There are some fake ones, but Dax was too cheap to buy real ones.”

“Did anyone know he was coming to your house?”

“I don’t know,” I answer honestly.

“You’re gonna have to have a story if the cops try to solve his murder.”

“I’ll tell them he came over, we fucked, and he left. Then I came to spend the night with you. Where have you been?”

He looks out the window, breaking eye contact with me. “I went to look for someone to fuck, but I couldn’t do it.”

I don’t say anything, because I don’t want him to know that’s what happened to me too. If he wasn’t invading my fucking brain, then Dax wouldn’t be dead right now.
