She slams the door shut before I have a chance to respond.

I don’t think she realizes that the more she fights whatever is going on between us, the more I’m going to fuck with her. It’s very clear to me that Charlie wants me just as much as I want her. If I have any chance of getting her out of my brain, I’m going to have to fuck her.

And I fully intend to do just that.

Chapter Nine

CHARLOTTE

What the fuck did I do?

I feel like I might throw up. Cameron is my best friend, and I don’t know how I keep finding myself in these situations with her brother. He’s an asshole and he’s fucking with me. How many times am I going to fall like putty into his hands?

“Where have you been?” Cam appears out of nowhere and scares the shit out of me.

“Holy shit, you scared me!” I tell her, putting my hand to my chest.

“Where were you?” She eyes me suspiciously.

“My mom called.” I frown.

“What did she want? Are you okay?”

“She wanted to know why I wasn’t home, when I would be home, and where I was.” I roll my eyes.

“You go on vacation with us everywhere, at the same time, to the same place,” Cam says, linking her arm with mine.

“That’s exactly what I told her.”

“Are you okay though?” She stops, pulling me to her, looking at me with concern, which only makes me feel that much more like shit.

“Yeah, I’ll be fine,” I reassure her.

My mom isn’t the only problem. Right now, her brother is the big problem, and the one person I want to talk to I can’t.

“Let’s go party. That will make you feel better,” she says, grabbing my hand.

When we get to the pool, I notice everyone else, aside from Cole, is already here. I wonder if that raised suspicion in anybody else’s mind?

When I glance over at Cole’s friend, Sasha, I get my answer. The girl is glaring at me. If looks could kill, she would have murdered me by now.

“What’s her problem?” Cam asks, leaning down to whisper in my ear.

“Who knows? Girls are naturally catty.” I shrug.

“That’s true. Plus, you’re insanely gorgeous. If you weren’t my best friend, I’d hate you too.” She laughs.

Her words make my body stiffen, because if she ever finds out about what’s been happening between me and her brother, she’s going to hate me anyway.

“Are you sure you’re okay? You seem distracted,” she says, pulling me aside with a frown.

“Yeah, I’m fine. My mom just got under my skin, but what else is new,” I say, brushing her off.

She looks like she wants to say something else but changes her mind when Cole walks in, looking like he just walked out of the pages of a fucking magazine. How can a guy be this insanely hot?

It’s truly unfair how attractive he is. Especially given that he’s such a fucking asshole.

“Where have you been?” Cam asks him, her hand on her hip.
